125 articulated awnings surprisingly found their way from Leerdam to Munich

More than 750,000 fans traveled to Munich at the end of the summer vacations. They came for the popular British singer Adele. As many as 10 concerts she gave. A special, new "pop-up stadium" was built especially for her concert series. But a complete Adele village was also erected around the festival grounds. Why this is news in Z&R yearbook? Well ... the company Rainbowsol from Leerdam was allowed to supply no less than 125 pieces of articulated arm screens, which were mounted to the many stands and stores on the festival grounds. The appearance of the event site in the southern German city received a huge boost! For the Leerdam family business, this was definitely a considerable logistical challenge.

Unexpected

"This order from our dealer was quite unexpected for us," says Robert Bosch, responsible for Rainbow Collection sales. "It actually started very simply with an e-mail we received from them. Right in the middle of the season, we were in the middle of the regular rush. And to be honest: at that moment you don't know if it is a serious question. Such a number and at very short notice. "But... that request was indeed serious. It goes without saying that we started a direct and serious discussion with the requesting party. Look, of course it is no problem to deliver 125 Ibizas in one order - we are well known for our excellent stock positions and flexible production capacity - but the desired delivery time was very short. Moreover, the designer of the festival site had figured out that it had to include about 20 different cloth designs! The concerts were scheduled in August and we only had the first interviews in June and by the end of July everything had to hang!"

Normal production

"Of course, we started using it right away," Robert explains. "It was important for us in any case that normal production, i.e. that related to the regular orders from the trade in the Netherlands, would not be affected. Delivery times to our other customers should absolutely not be delayed because we had won such a huge project. And so the entire team had to work extra hard in June and July. But we succeeded. At the beginning of July, the 125 screens were shipped to Munich in one big transport. And there, all excellently prepared, assembled."

Separate highlight

According to Robert, this is now typically one of those unexpected projects that you can be immensely proud of. "When we look back at 2024 at the end of the year, the 125 Ibizas for Adele are of course kind of a very special highlight. We are proud that we were allowed to deliver and that the customer had also expressed its confidence in us as a manufacturer. But I am actually much more proud of the resilience and flexibility of our organization, of our employees. Because yes, it did mean working extra hours for many colleagues, even in the evenings. We all rolled up our sleeves, just as a family business should. I can really look back on that with a very good feeling. It shows our strength."

Invitation to a cup of coffee

Whether Adele paid another melodic tribute onstage to the Rainbowsol company is unknown to Robert. "I haven't been to the concerts myself," he says, laughing. "But if Adele ever happens to be in Leerdam by chance, we'll definitely invite her over for coffee sometime. I think she will also enjoy seeing why the festival grounds in Munich were tiptop and where, with an eye for detail, something truly spectacular had been put up. Among other things, with our contribution."
