High living comfort demands thoughtful shading, especially in a modern penthouse with lots of glass. An installation with 52 zip-screens was therefore chosen in a duplex apartment of 235 m² in Amsterdam. These not only provide privacy, but above all effectively limit the heat load in summer.
The screens are driven by SELVE radio motors type SE Plus-RC and controlled via SELVE Home Server 3 (SHS 3). This control center automates daily processes, allowing residents to benefit from greater comfort, efficiency and convenience. According to resident Marc Schlaghecke, operation is fully automatic and one hardly needs to bother with it in practice. Schellekens & Schellekens (Hunter Douglas) signed for the ZIP Screen installation, while Dennis Blokland of Zonweringvakman.nl was involved in commissioning the HS3. In collaboration with Oliver Rentmeister, regional manager Benelux at SELVE, the two intelligent servers were installed - one per floor - to achieve optimal wireless coverage.
“Thanks to the even easier initial installation of the SHS 3 via QR code and Bluetooth setup, this was quickly and easily arranged,” says Oliver Rentmeister. Using the free app SELVE Home 3, all components of the system were then integrated ‘completely easily,’ as well as individual groups and scenes were created and coordinated. This left no wishes unfulfilled for the residents: tailored to their personal needs, the next generation of SELVE Home is now reliably in use in the duplex penthouse. Thus, this project has become a fine example of cooperation between manufacturer, specialist partner and specialist installation.
A major plus point of SELVE Home 3 is its Matter compatibility. This allows the system to be easily connected to other smart-home devices and, in this project, voice control via Google Home was also quickly realized. What is also striking is that the technology was not only used in this penthouse, but in the entire residential complex. A total of around 600 motors from the manufacturer were processed there, which makes this reference extra relevant for the project market. Thus the company proves that intelligent shading solutions do exist!
