Extra-long slats for widths up to 6 meters: that’s the defining feature of the two bioclimatic pergolas, Twist and Varia, with XL slats, specially designed to cover large areas. This is a key advantage that offers greater flexibility in residential settings and, even more so, in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector.
Both in residential settings and — even more often — in the hospitality industry, there may be a need to equip spacious outdoor areas with pergolas that not only have high aesthetic value and provide protection from the sun and rain by creating a pleasant microclimate, but are also capable of covering large areas.
To meet this specific need, Gibus — one of Europe’s leading players in the field of outdoor design — has developed a new slat (as an alternative to the slat on the base model) for two of its top models in the bioclimatic pergola line: Twist and Varia.
This is a special, longer slat designed for wide widths, specifically engineered to offer better inertia characteristics and, as a result, exhibit less natural deflection even at larger sizes. Compared to the standard slats of the Twist and Varia models, the XL version is more robust and stands out due to its greater height: 65 mm versus 42.5 mm for the standard slats. It is precisely thanks to this feature that both pergolas can reach a width of 600 cm per module — a full meter wider than the base models Twist and Varia, which can cover up to 5 meters — thereby opening up new possibilities for the outdoor design of restaurants, hotels, lounge bars, and prestigious residences.
These bioclimatic pergolas with XL louvers are true wellness oases that enhance the quality of outdoor living and feature all the characteristics that have made Twist and Varia iconic. They are characterized by a sleek and contemporary design, a range of advanced patented technologies, and exclusive optional features: from LED lighting with adjustable intensity and color to a Bluetooth-connected audio system with built-in speakers; from the Snow Melt system, which prevents snow buildup by heating the upper surface of the slats, to the integration of solar panels.
The two pergolas, Twist and Varia, are made of powder-coated extruded aluminum and feature tiltable slats that can be rotated between 0° and 120°. They differ from one another in terms of their options for side enclosures: Varia offers full structural integration of zip screens, which serve as sunshades to prevent the greenhouse effect during the warmer months, while they can also be combined with glass enclosures for use of the pergola during cooler months or in strong winds. Twist, on the other hand, can also be equipped with screens and glazing, but these are installed on the exterior and cannot be present at the same time.
With Twist and Varia, Gibus once again reaffirms its commitment to innovation and functional design, offering both the residential and hospitality markets outstanding architectural solutions—that can transform any outdoor space into a unique, sheltered environment that can be enjoyed to the fullest in every season.
