Flexible outdoor solutions for every season

Canopies are gaining popularity as a way to make optimal use of outdoor spaces. Glass walls turn this product into a complete outdoor system. Ittalum is responding to this trend by expanding its range: in addition to sliding roofs, the company now also supplies wall systems. These enable specialists to create complete outdoor spaces tailored to specific uses and seasons.

The expansion was also a reason to review the brand identity. “Our logo and name were once strongly associated with sliding roofs,” says director Mike de Groot. “But now our range includes more. The new pay-off ‘Enjoy outdoor flexibility’ fits better with that. We make outdoor products that can be easily adapted to the weather or how the space is used.”

Walls as a logical extension

The new wall systems connect to Ittalum's existing roof structures. They are often used under a canopy and offer protection against wind, rain, or prying eyes. In addition, the walls can also be supplied separately, for example for integration into other buildings or architectural solutions realized by contractors. The range consists of two types: sliding walls and sliding-turning walls, each offering their own advantages depending on the situation.

The sliding walls move along a single rail and can be slid to the left or right. They are available in full glass, without vertical profiles, or with a frame for extra wind resistance. The version with a slim steel-look frame is popular for projects with an industrial look. The sliding-turning walls consist of panels that open one after the other: the first panel swings away, followed by the rest. This creates a large open passageway.

All systems match the colors and finishes of Ittalum roofs. “We use the same powder coating and prepare many components in advance during production,” says De Groot. “This saves the installer time during installation, which is a significant advantage.”

For applications where comfort and insulation are more important (for example, in outdoor rooms or other spaces that are used all year round), Ittalum also supplies sliding-turning doors with insulated glass. “We see a lot of potential there,” says De Groot.

Outlook and cooperation

Ittalum is working on a new wall system for the hospitality sector, to be launched in 2026. Terraces are increasingly being fitted with flexible roofs and walls, allowing businesses to use their outdoor space even in less favorable weather conditions. The ability to adapt the terrace to sun, wind, or rain has become essential for generating revenue throughout the year.

Ittalum works with installers and retailers who understand the trade and are able to sell and deliver distinctive features and added value. “We are continuing to expand our network in the Netherlands and Belgium,” says De Groot. “Together, we create outdoor spaces that change with the seasons.”
