One of this year's most important revolutions in shading country turned out to be the introduction of Unilux's new Plisséfit, the successful screen door, which is especially noiseless. The neighbors no longer hear when a screen door is closed or opened. In the previous edition of Z&R you already read plenty of compliments from the trade. With this new screen door there is a contribution to sustainability. So, not only the indoor climate (no insects inside!) but also the outdoor climate is improved!
Dènis van Loosbroek, General Manager at Unilux, explains that the development was initiated about two years ago in the company's own R&D department. "If you hear from the market that the original Plisséfit screen door makes just a little too much noise when opening and closing, you get to work. Because yes... our customers - and therefore their customers - just had a point! Fortunately, our people are full of technical ideas and started trying out all kinds of options. The goal? To develop and produce a quieter one. And so we succeeded."
This updated Plisséfit screen door not only embodies - according to Dènis - the Boxtel-based company's continuous drive for innovation, but it is also about its unconditional commitment to a sustainable future. "For example, we actively encourage the market reuse to save energy and raw materials. For example, in this innovation we stand for local sourcing of parts and use recycled aluminum. We produce in the Netherlands, so we minimize transport costs anyway, as well as using high-quality plastic materials to produce the chain and other parts."
At Unilux, therefore, current climate challenges are increasingly prominent on the agenda. "The impact of global warming is clearly visible. Think for example of the extreme weather conditions and the clear shift of the seasons. Our message is therefore: pick up the gauntlet. We certainly do! The new Plisséfit - as mentioned above - is already a good example of this. But viewed company-wide: we ourselves have also succeeded in reducing our own ecological footprint."
"At the beginning of the year - at Polyclose - Unilux also launched the 'Protect the Insects' campaign," he said. "With this we call for an end to the use of harmful pesticides, such as aerosols. Insects play a crucial role in a healthy ecosystem, but these products are still widely available. There are alternative methods to keep them at bay without harming the environment."
Precisely the latter, then, is the bridge to the importance of proper indoor ventilation. "The regular opening of windows and doors is crucial for a healthy living environment even in the autumn we are in now. However, because of the fear of high heating costs, people are reluctant to let fresh air in. We strive to make it clear that these concerns are not always well-founded and that the importance of ventilation should always come first." Unilux announces that the campaign will continue into 2025.
