Every company knows that you can never plan everything down to the minute. After all, markets are fickle. But, what has happened to the world - and thus to the Netherlands - in the past year and a half makes estimating the time ahead even more difficult. Who knows: what will 2022 bring us after two corona years?

“At least what we feared when the pandemic broke out has not become a reality,” says Robert Bosch of Rainbowsol from Leerdam. “On the contrary, we all improved significantly, simply because of the reason that the individual mostly sat at home, looked around and thought: I'm going to do something about my house!”
The question now is whether that trend will continue in 2022. Bosch also finds it difficult to make a prediction on that. “The fact is that supply problems have become an issue in the industry. I think everyone is affected by that. And yes, that has - logically - also led to price increases. For us, too, this means that we will have to create a completely new catalog before 2022.”
“Price increases are obviously never fun,” Bosch continued. “But otherwise I'm actually positive for our industry. What is helping all of us is - as crazy as it sounds - the stuckness of the housing market. Housing prices are unprecedentedly high, which is reducing the number of transactions. People can't afford to move financially. So then people are investing in their own homes. That will pay off to our industry as well. Despite the fact that it is uncertain exactly what 2022 will bring, we can already anticipate the next season.”
“First of all, I would advise the trade to point out - for example, in advertising campaigns - that consumers should start thinking about sunscreens earlier. At the end of the day, no one wants to sell ‘no’. When the big boom resumes in the spring of 2022, delivery times will start to increase. It's no fun for consumers to then have to wait weeks - maybe months - for their outdoor awnings because delivery times become an issue throughout the chain. To govern is to foresee. So I hope the dealers can trigger consumers to start looking at blinds earlier, so we can spread the fuss a little more over the year.”

“In addition, I expect further increasing success for ourselves from our consumer website. No, we don't sell directly to the individual, but we do tell that consumer that we exist as a brand. And that we are available in many places in the country. We actually help our dealers become even more visible in the marketplace.”
“All of this, by the way, did not come about without a struggle. We work with professional online marketers and parties who provide customized content. I have discovered that this is all a branch of sport that is constantly changing, but from which you can get a lot as a company. So we translate that into leads for our dealers. We've had two very good years in that regard, but we're moving on!”

“Furthermore, we will make it increasingly easy for our sales outlets in the coming months by also offering our sales catalog as a browsable online version. This is not only more sustainable than a paper catalog, it also just offers a lot of convenience in the end.” Closing. I actually haven't been able to answer the question of what 2022 will bring exactly,” Bosch concludes honestly. “But it is up to us as a professional party in the chain to try to stay in control wherever we can. With the ultimate goal of boosting the excitement at all our outlets.”
