The updated pleated screen door, launched in 2024, immediately impressed the market when it was introduced in the spring. In fact, this screen door offers a virtually silent experience that significantly increases customer satisfaction. "We always listen to our dealers, who are in daily contact with end users, and understood that making it quieter - i.e., quieter - was a key improvement point compared to the old version of the screen door," says Dènis van Loosbroek, General Manager at Unilux. "After an intensive development process, we have realized a successful solution. As far as we are concerned, we can therefore point to 2024 as the year of the silent revolution in screen door technology!"
In recent years, Unilux - based in Boxtel - developed a patented system that incorporates a plastic strip in the chain, which significantly reduces noise during use. "The result is a screen door that is not only noiseless but also performs excellently, even after intensive tests in which we introduced sand into the system and opened and closed the door more than 10,000 times," explains a satisfied Van Loosbroek.
In addition to noise reduction, Unilux paid close attention to sustainability. "We not only want to achieve technical improvements, but also to do our part for a greener future," he says. This led to a production process that uses recycled aluminum and high-quality plastic materials for the chain and other parts. In addition, the new pleated screen door is produced in the Netherlands, which reduces transportation costs and environmental impact. In addition, each door is manually checked before it leaves the factory, allowing Unilux to ensure the highest quality standards. "Every screen door has to be quieter than its predecessor before it leaves the factory," Van Loosbroek emphasizes. "It's really that simple." The screen door also features the familiar Twistlock system, which securely stows the mesh package, helping to extend the life of the product. And of course, the screen door 100% remains mosquito proof without compromising on functionality.
The introduction of the new screen door in 2024 has been very positively received by dealers. Thomas Smit of Schmit Dronten, one of Unilux's regular partners, is delighted with the innovation: "We have been selling Unilux for more than 15 years and were always satisfied, but the silent screen door is really a step forward. Consumers are very happy with the difference and we enjoy selling the product." Erwin Jansma of Jansma Hardegarijp, who demonstrates the new plisséfit screen door in his showroom, also notices the difference: "When I first saw the silent version, I was immediately convinced. The difference with the old version is huge and customers respond positively to it immediately. It feels good to sell a product that you fully support."
With the new plisséfit screen door, Unilux showed once again that innovation is the crux, especially by listening carefully to the market. The combination of silence, durability and ease of use made this screen door a commercial success in 2024. "And as far as we are concerned, we will continue that line to 2025," Van Loosbroek concluded with a laugh. This year, the new screen door was nominated for one of the industry's most important professional awards: the Z&R Product Of The Year Award.
