"The most successful screen door in the Netherlands - the Plisséfit - has become a bit better again." Speaking is the visibly satisfied Dènis van Loosbroek, General Manager at Unilux in Boxtel. "The great thing is that the innovation we managed to integrate came about based on the feedback from our customers and dealers. After all, the screen door has now become a lot quieter. Moreover, in this project we have also been able to take another step in the area of sustainability."
Dènis explains that the development started about two years ago in the company's own R&D department. "When you hear from the market that the original Plisséfit screen door makes just a little too much noise when opening and closing, you get to work. Because yes, our customers - and therefore their customers - just had a point! Fortunately, our people are full of technical ideas and started trying out all kinds of options. The goal? To develop and produce a quieter one. It was really that simple. In the end, we arrived at a solution."
"It's in the chain where a plastic strip runs along. Exactly that is the innovation, which has now also been patented. The mesh is closed at the top by the chain. Of course, we have tested extensively. We even deliberately "threw sand" into the system, but even after opening and closing it more than 10,000 times, the screen door continued to function perfectly. It remained quieter than the previous version. By the way... we leave nothing to chance at Unilux: every produced screen door that now leaves our factory is checked by our employees by hand: has it really become quieter or quieter compared to earlier models?"
"Furthermore, it is important to mention that the seal to keep insects out is fully retained. After all, a screen door must remain a screen door!"
This revamped Plisséfit screen door not only embodies - according to Dènis - the Boxtel-based company's continuous drive for innovation, but it is also about its unconditional commitment to a sustainable future. "For example, we actively encourage the market reuse to save energy and raw materials. For example, in this innovation we stand for local sourcing of parts and use recycled aluminum. We produce in the Netherlands, so we minimize transportation costs AND we use high-quality plastic materials to produce the chain and other parts."
The updated Plisséfit screen door is already available and - as far as the ambitious Unilux is concerned - marks a new milestone in silence, functionality and durability in screen door technology.
