Z&R has an appointment with manager Frederick Vandeputte in the showroom along the busy Kortrijkseweg. The parasols and patio cover in the parking lot immediately set the tone, but inside you really see what this family business stands for: quality across the board. Vandeputte has been around for more than twenty years. "In the early years, the emphasis was on indoor sun protection and window decoration, but when the importance of outdoor sun protection increased, Brustor convinced me to start offering awnings as well," says Frederick Vandeputte. "As everyone started to be more energy conscious, they also started looking for solutions to better control the temperature in the house on hot days. With articulated blinds and screens, you can block the sun's rays before they enter the building, keeping the heat out."
In the meantime, the range has expanded considerably, as gates, front doors, roller shutters, windbreaks, carports and terrace coverings were gradually added. But the name Vandeputte is mostly mentioned in the same breath with Brustor. "We have been working with Brustor since day one and have not complained about it. Just like Vandeputte, this is a West Flemish family business with a clear desire to innovate," continues the manager. "That also has advantages for us, because as a distributor you have to regularly show off new products in your showroom. After all, that attracts visitors. However, it is also important to cherish the existing products, even if they are less popular. All these systems can be fully personalized by the customer thanks to an extensive color choice for fabrics and profiles and a wide range of options, such as an extra flounce, LED lighting, heating elements, remote control, wind protection, ceiling supports or front lath support.
"Customers will also find fabric sun protection for horizontal and sloping glass panes and veranda roofs. And with the zipscreen, the range includes a series of extremely wind-resistant sun and insect screens with zipper system that keeps the fabric in the side guides at any height and even at high wind speeds," adds Frederick Vandeputte.
"Brustor was also one of the pioneers in patio covers in 2011 and we naturally stepped into this new story. Today, this is still a growth market. But the number of suppliers has also increased significantly, making it important to be able to stand out from other players. It comes down to listening to the customer and responding to their needs. We do that with a complete range, ranging from a simple solution with a windproof sun and water-resistant cloth or slats as a roof to a total solution with a waterproof folding roof or a roof with rotatable, even sliding slats, equipped with lighting, heating and integrated screens on the front and side, creating a real outdoor room."
