Screens in development: from sophisticated design to integrated solar technology

From a hidden bottom lath to integrated solar panels, Verano® is working on ritzscreens® with targeted innovations that respond to ease of installation, aesthetics and sustainable drive.

Screens have been an important part of the sun protection range for many years. At the same time, the product category continues to evolve. Architecture demands tighter detailing, installers are looking for more efficient installation, and end users expect more comfort and smart operation. For manufacturers, the challenge lies in continuously improving existing systems.

At Verano®, product development is strongly driven by practical experience. Within the in-house R&D department, improvements in design, assembly and drive are being worked on. Here the focus is not only on new products, but rather on refining existing systems.

V552 ritzscreen®: sophistication in design

A recent development is the V552 - ritzscreen®, a refined variant of the well-known V550. The main modification is in the construction of the bottom bar.

With the V552, the bottom bar disappears completely into the case when the screen is rolled up. This creates a calmer and tighter facade appearance. Especially in modern housing and contemporary architecture, where detailing plays an important role, this contributes to a neat overall appearance of the facade. This refinement is also received positively from the market: partners indicate that this ensures a tighter end result.

The system remains based on the familiar properties of ritzscreen® technology: stable fabric, good wind resistance and reliable operation. At the same time, the design has been further developed. For example, the tube is placed eccentrically, creating additional space for a battery. In addition, the V552 offers size options up to 4000 mm wide and 3500 mm high.

Solar integrated into the conductor

Screens also continue to develop in the field of energy supply. One example is the solar solution in which the solar panel is integrated into the side guides rather than on top of the case. This limits shadowing, for example due to a roof overhang, and allows the system to generate energy more efficiently. At the same time, the design remains visually calm and compact.

The position of the solar panel also provides additional flexibility in application. Even in projects where the cabinet is placed in a cove, solar remains easily applicable. Moreover, if necessary, the solar panel can be replaced relatively easily.

Solar solutions and wireless drive

Verano® solar solutions are used in combination with wireless motors from both Somfy and iMove, with iMove being a more cost-effective alternative within the range. The solar panel charges the integrated battery, eliminating the need for a power connection. A charging point on the side makes it easy to top up the battery if necessary.

For installers, this means faster and easier installation, with no additional wiring or drilling. This makes the system suitable for both new construction and renovation. For many partners, this solution is also a clear differentiator from other systems on the market.

The screen of the future

Whereas screens used to be used primarily for shading and heat control, they are increasingly developing into integrated solutions for comfort, energy management and smart control. Design, sustainability and automation are coming closer together.

In the process, Verano® is working in the background on new screen developments looking at further optimization of the product. The focus includes fewer parts, less visible fixings and better integration of solar accessories such as battery and panel. Easy installation and assembly are also emphatically included.
