BC Sunprotection manifests itself as a pioneer in solar

BC Sunprotection is an important distributor of solar powered roller shutters and sunshades in the Benelux. Based in Westmalle, between Turnhout and Antwerp, the company has been supplying roller shutters for 30 years and now has 13 years of experience with solar powered roller shutters and zipscreens. BC Sunprotection can therefore safely be called a pioneer in the field of solar drives. The faces behind the company are Ingrid Coucke and Jo Blommé. An interview. 

Can you tell us a little more about your company and the products you offer?

"BC Sunprotection has been active in the Benelux for thirteen years as a distributor of solar powered blinds and shutters. We are proud to represent two top brands: Bubendorff and Solaise. Bubendorff is a leading German/French manufacturer with factories in Germany and France, while Solaise is our own - Belgian - brand. Both brands offer unique and distinctive products that excel in different aspects." 

What distinguishes BC Sunprotection's products from those of other providers?

"Our products stand out in several areas. First, we mainly use the 100% reliable Bubendorff solar motors. They ensure optimal operation of the zipscreens and roller shutters equipped with them. We have years of experience with these motors and can confidently state that we achieve 100% satisfaction with them among our customers."

Can you tell a bit more about your solar products?

"We are convinced that our solar products stand out in six areas, first and foremost because of their high quality. BC Sunprotection delivers zipscreens and shutters of the highest quality, made from top-quality materials. For this we work together with renowned manufacturers. This ensures that our products are durable and long lasting. All parts used are 'made in Europe'." 

"A second aspect is efficient energy generation: BC Sunprotection's solar screens and shutters are highly efficient in generating energy. The specially developed solar panels have a high efficiency that is also maintained longer than the efficiency of most other solar panels. In addition, the battery choice makes an important difference. The type of battery and the fact that it is integrated into the engine means that the energy is better stored and preserved. An integrated battery is continuously protected from heat, cold and moisture."

"Customization is also an important issue. BC Sunprotection offers customized solutions to every customer. Our zipscreens and shutters are available up to large sizes, almost all RAL colors are available at no extra cost and the design of the products is such that the individual needs of almost every customer are met. That means that almost most of the time a screen is available that fits perfectly to a home or commercial building." 

"Solar shutters and screens are also a smart choice because of their ease of installation. Easy installation is an important argument for many to choose solar. Also, the patented box suspension is a plus in installation, especially when mounted between two walls."

How have your competitors responded to the emergence of solar-powered blinds and shutters?

"In the beginning, the competition was very skeptical. Hardly anyone had confidence or interest in solar drive. However, that has completely changed in recent years and today almost all manufacturers include solar drives in their product range. It is fair to say that, thanks to our many years of experience, we have built up a considerable lead in the field of solar, but also in terms of knowledge of fabric manufacture, zipscreen technology and roller shutter technology. In short, we have the knowledge and expertise to deliver the best products." 

How has the demand for solar products developed in recent years?

"For the past three years we have seen a huge increase in demand for solar products. Solar has been a niche product for a long time, but today consumers really trust it. And also the dealer sees more and more the advantages of solar. Our good reputation for solar screens and shutters has certainly contributed to this. The rising demand has led to a big increase in sales and strong growth for our company."
