Then there would be hundreds of insects stuck to the car and the sponge had to be used to make it somewhat presentable again. Now this is hardly necessary because there are apparently fewer insects. No more need for insect repellent, might be the conclusion, but that is more nuanced!
To keep out insects is to protect insects! After all, if they are kept out, they do not need to be controlled, for example with chemicals, because we do not really want that. After all, those agents are harmful to humans and animals, and besides, we want to preserve our insects. We even want their populations to grow, because they are an important link in our ecosystems, for example, for pollination or as an indispensable component in the food chain. "Unilux is therefore actively committed to protecting insects," said CEO Patrick van Loosbroek. "We have also called attention to this in Z&R on several occasions."
"This campaign is considered particularly sympathetic," hooks marketing and communications manager Hanneke Harmeling. "Don't be startled when you see a giant wasp passing by on the road. With our 'wasp bus' we are making a statement that no one can ignore. As the Netherlands' largest screen specialist, we are kicking off the new season with this eye-catching bus, in which the message 'Protect the insects with Unilux screens' will once again take center stage."
"This year, Unilux's commercials and 'Protect the insects' promos will again be seen regularly on RTL's TV channels," continued Hanneke Harmeling. "Unilux's goal is to make people more aware of insect mortality and its disastrous consequences. Our local Unilux screen specialists - Unilux calls its dealers screen specialists - also have a role in this. They will be extensively provided with attractive promotional material and engaging content, so that they too can communicate the message 'Protect the insects with Unilux screens'."
So preserving insects and growing their populations is paramount. But that doesn't mean people want those beneficial insects inside. We all know it: a single mosquito can ruin your sleep. So insect protection is certainly not an unnecessary luxury. "Unilux has the effective means for it," Patrick van Loosbroek emphasizes. "With no fewer than 70% patented products, we offer our dealers - and end users - an exclusive and distinctive range. Moreover, because we have a lot of innovative capacity, we are able to continuously develop our product range. For the 2021 season, we have selected five highlights from our assortment, to which we will pay extra attention in trade magazines, through videos and in communication to our dealers."
For the multitude of window frames in aluminum and plastic, for example, Unilux has the clamp-in screen. The SOFTFIT with its aluminum frame and extremely thin plastic flange of 0.7 mm is even more widely applicable. The flange is flexible and can be compressed between rebate and frame, reducing the likelihood that readjustment of the frame is necessary to make the handle close properly. The screen can be easily clamped into the window opening. Screwing and drilling is not necessary. Additional advantage: because the flange can be snapped off, the transport volume can be greatly reduced.
One of the special features of Unilux screens is the Twistlock, which Van Loosbroek says contributes to the ease of use and durability of Unilux products. "By always using the Twistlock in pleated products, any problems with mesh pressure - which can occur with frequent use - are prevented. That is unique and distinctive from similar products from other suppliers."
In practice, the spring pin sleeve proves difficult to install because it requires very precise drilling. Unilux has made mounting with a spring pin easier by introducing the spring pin sleeve. As a result, the drilling tolerances are greater in both the horizontal and vertical directions. The spring pin sleeve is a plastic sleeve with an oval inner shape that can be adjusted anywhere between a horizontal and a vertical position with a flat screwdriver if necessary.
As a result, the spring pin always falls into the sleeve and makes placement of the screen easier. The spring pin sleeve is always inconspicuous gray.
"In its patented Plisséfit, Unilux has combined the good properties of the Japanese pleated screen door with the wishes and requirements of the Western market," says Van Loosbroek. The result is a sleekly designed pleated screen door that can be installed in or on the day without additional auxiliary profiles. Placement on the left or right can be chosen on site. The sleek design blends unobtrusively with the frame. The operating frame remains in any position and the bottom guide is only 3 mm. The door can be coupled and, if necessary, it can be easily readjusted.
The aluminum bottom guide for the Plisséfit is an important addition to the Unilux range. The bottom guide ensures that the door is properly guided during use. Underguides can sometimes bulge in the summer heat due to expansion. Unilux's aluminum bottom guide is the basis for a loose plastic strip that can expand in length without problems and thus does not become deformed. The aluminum bottom guide can be screwed in, after which the plastic strip is clicked in. A running wheel in the Plisséfit ensures that the door opens and closes easily.
Unilux supplies all its products as standard in five colors, two of which are textured paint. Even before the season starts, all products in these colors for 80% are in stock to enable fast production and delivery. In addition, all other RAL colors are also available. Because Unilux has its own powder coating facilities at its factory in Boxtel, the normal two-week delivery time can also be maintained for non-standard colors.
"Research shows that Unilux brand awareness is growing steadily," says Hanneke Harmeling. "Moreover, Unilux was one of the brands that saw the strongest increase in search volume. To allow our screen specialists to benefit from this, we presented a unique B2B solution in the past year, whereby our dealers can unburden consumers through the Unilux screen webshop by measuring and fitting a chosen product and also taking care of the after-sales."
Corona provided a further boost to online sales. Initially, these increased because home visits by watch specialists were not desirable, and later also because their response time could be considerable during the busy season. Furthermore, the first intelligent lockdown of 2020 showed that handy end users are also quite capable of measuring and fitting themselves.
"The Unilux screen specialists always benefited from online sales because they receive a commission for the screens delivered," says Patrick van Loosbroek. "To accommodate them even more, Unilux has decided to increase the sales commission to the full online margin. This allows our screen specialists to confidently refer consumers who don't want a home visit, who want a more competitive price, or who want faster installation time during busy times to www.unilux.nl without losing margin. Dealers who want to know if they qualify should contact [email protected]."
"We are proud of our distinctive products and the continuous development in them," concludes Patrick van Loosbroek. "Just like our delivery times and the cooperation with our screen specialists, whom we want to relieve as much as possible in the ordering, measuring and assembly process. Delivering insect screens is teamwork!"
