The smarthome system VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO can now be controlled via Google Assistant. As a result, VELUX ACTIVE is visible in the Google Home app and can be easily controlled via voice commands to Google Home.
Because we spend as much as 90% of our time indoors, a healthy indoor environment is more important than ever. Fortunately, new technological innovations and Internet of Things are making this increasingly easy. VELUX ACTIVE brings together a smartphone app, indoor climate sensors and an Internet gateway with advanced algorithms to intelligently control windows and blinds. Thanks to the new connection with Google Assistant, temperature, humidity, CO2-levels and fresh air in your home easily via a simple voice command to Google Home or via the Google Home app on your smartphone.
“VELUX is constantly striving to improve the lives and homes of our users. This new connection between VELUX ACTIVE and Google Assistant offers users even more convenience and functionalities and further enhances their indoor climate and living experience through easy operation,” says Vince Kers, product manager at VELUX Netherlands.

VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO uses different algorithms. Climate sensors measure the concentration of CO2, humidity and temperature in the home. The algorithm improves the indoor climate by linking this data to external data based on local weather forecasts and activates a gateway to open or close skylights, skylights, window coverings, outdoor blinds or shutters as needed. Rooms and products can be included in the system with their own names. With a simple ‘Hey Google, open my window’ you effortlessly reduce humidity. Whether in the kitchen while cooking or in the bathroom after showering.
In addition to using automatic settings, VELUX ACTIVE can also be adapted to personal daily routines. The advanced algorithms used can be set at predefined times. This means that the system can do its work at specific times, such as when extra fresh air is needed while sleeping at night or when someone is working from home.

VELUX ACTIVE calculates whether an open window improves the indoor climate or not, and if so how much ventilation is needed and for how long. The rain sensor in the VELUX INTEGRA® skylights or skylights, however, determines whether the window can be opened. The algorithm will always be overridden during unforeseen weather conditions, such as an unexpected rainstorm. If sun and high temperatures are predicted, the system will automatically close exterior blinds or shutters in a timely manner to prevent overheating.
VELUX ACTIVE is designed so that homeowners can easily install the system themselves. People with the VELUX ACTIVE starter kit, an electric VELUX INTEGRA® product on mains or solar power and a Google Home, can immediately enjoy all the functionality of VELUX ACTIVE.
