Verano® has a mission: To make the world just a little bit better every day

As commercial manager Erik Willems already wrote in his column in Z&R 3 of 2023: Verano® wants to draw even more attention to the added value of solar shading in the fight against the overheating of buildings. According to Verano®, saving energy starts with solar shading. Efficient solar shading not only saves on energy bills, but also provides a better indoor climate and actively contributes to positive climate change. According to Verano®, this win-win situation represents a crucial role for the industry in the coming years. In view of the changing world and sustainability as a hot topic, one of the biggest innovations of the last year has been solar-powered ritzscreens® and shutters.  

Ritzscreens® and solar shutters

The sun is an inexhaustible resource, and for this reason it has been used more and more intensively in recent years for generating energy, as well as for controlling blinds. Ritzscreens® and solar shutters, also known as solar ritzscreens® and solar shutters, are equipped with a battery and solar panel. Therefore, no connection to the power grid is needed anymore. This also means that chopping and breaking during installation is no longer necessary, and it is not necessary to have technical knowledge regarding the connection of motor wiring to the power network. In this way, the installation becomes not only more efficient and easier for specialists, but also more pleasant for the end user. 

Attention to energy consumption

Both during the construction of houses and during renewal of existing buildings, there has been increasing attention to energy consumption in recent years. For example, more and more homes are reducing net energy consumption to - almost - zero. Dynamic blinds, such as ritzscreens®, can play an important role in reducing annual energy consumption. Research by TNO has shown that when ritzscreens® are used in homes, it saves up to 14% in energy consumption for space heating. In the summer, between 61% and 72% is saved on energy consumption for cooling, compared to a home without shading measures. When shading is additionally controlled by solar-powered motors, the energy savings only increase.

Sustainability not only plays an important role for Verano® in the development of products, but also in other areas. For example, Verano® is a proud holder of the AluEco certificate and is making every effort to bring construction aluminum into the recycling chain. In addition, Verano® works intensively with Trees for All, a non-profit organization that has been committed to a forested environment for more than twenty years. For example, Verano® supports the creation of new loam forests in Brabant's Groene Woud, as well as the restoration of the unique lowland forests in Western Madagascar. Understandably, planting in the latter location in particular attracted a lot of interest. Just a few examples of ways in which Verano® is making the world just a little bit better, with an eye for people, society and nature.
