Employee of VELUX Netherlands honored with unique international award

Esther van Rossum receives Villum Kann Rasmussen Award

Esther van Rossum, Local Finance Manager at VELUX Netherlands, has received the Villum Kann Rasmussen (VKR) Award. The honorable and rare award honors employees who, each in their own way, have made a special contribution to making the VELUX model company a reality in their relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.

The VKR Award is given each year on Jan. 23, the birthday of founder Villum Kann Rasmussen, to a select group of VKR Holding employees worldwide. “Esther received the Award because her work is characterized by a strong sense of responsibility towards our customers, suppliers and (inter)national colleagues. She started with us as assistant credit controller and progressed to Local Finance Manager. Her work is characterized by a high standard and great sense of responsibility. She has been a confidant for her colleagues for many years and an active member of the Works Council. All this makes Esther a highly valued colleague who deserves this recognition,” said Michel Sombroek, Managing Director of VELUX Netherlands.

The award, for which a person must be nominated, was first presented in 1996. The selection of recipients emphasizes exceptional commitment, high degree of loyalty, a substantial, high value and quality in work performance, imagination, initiative, helpfulness to colleagues and, finally, an infectious enthusiasm for work. All qualities that Villum Kann Rasmussen felt contribute to a strong and healthy organization and make VELUX a great company to work for.

The award is made possible by the VKR Group's Employee Foundation. This year, the award was presented to 15 employees worldwide. In recent years, 293 employees around the world have received the Award. At VELUX Netherlands in all those years, only three other colleagues preceded Esther van Rossum.
