Good news! As of December 2024, all of SunCircle's screen models are included in the National Environmental Database (NMD), the official database that records the environmental impact of building products.
This inclusion is essential for calculating the Environmental Performance of Buildings (MPG), where a lower score represents a more sustainable building. And our SunCircle screens currently have the lowest environmental impact of any motorized awning in the database! 🎉
The increasing demand for sustainable building materials requires transparent and verifiable environmental performance. To respond to this, two of our employees took LCA training. We then conducted an LCA study on our entire screen line. This determined the environmental impact of all materials used throughout the entire life cycle of our screens.
On this basis, we have prepared our Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in accordance with EN 15804 A1+A2 standard. With these EPDs, the environmental impact of products can be fairly compared. For example, screens from different manufacturers can be compared, and also the limited impact of screens compared to air conditioners can be demonstrated. Moreover, an EPD for solar shading products will become a mandatory part of the CE declaration as early as 2028. We are anticipating this by meeting these requirements now and making our environmental performance transparent and verifiable.
