Smart blinds and window treatments help environment and wallet

Climate change, CO2 emissions, nitrogen, warming ... they are headlines in the newspapers in 2022 and no doubt again in 2023. More than letters on paper, it is also daily practice in every household. There is no one solution, but shading and window covering specialists can make a significant contribution to saving on energy and heating costs, thus helping the environment and the wallet.  

Insulating window coverings

A lot of energy is lost through windows. Even though most homes and offices are now double-glazed, still 20% of heat! Smart use of window coverings can significantly reduce energy loss. Window coverings ward off the cold and are insulating and therefore energy-saving, saving up to 200 cubic meters of gas per year. At current prices, that's easily just under 1,000 euros! For consumers in 2023, this will undoubtedly be an important consideration.

Layering

Layering is the application of multiple window coverings at the same time, or combining window coverings with curtains. This provides many additional options in terms of flexible light and privacy control. The functionality of window coverings, such as application to tilt-and-turn windows or the privacy control of top-down/bottom-up options, is combined with the look of curtains. 

Another important advantage: multiple layers in front of the window have an insulating effect, thus contributing to energy savings. In addition, playing with different layers contributes to better room acoustics. Also not unimportant. 

Smart saving tips

Outdoor

Exterior blinds can also contribute significantly to reducing energy costs for heating and/or cooling. Just think about air conditioning. Roller shutters insulate and repel cold and heat. The disadvantage, of course, is that when closed, they also do not allow light to pass through, giving a new dimension to the concept of "dark days" in winter. 

Luxaflex® Screens, elegantly and flush mounted outside against the facade, offer an energy-efficient solution. They keep heat in during winter and out during summer. Screens block or retain up to 90% of the sun's heat. This is immediately noticeable on cold and hot days and thus also has a direct effect on gas and electricity bills.
