Mild winters cause insects to be and remain active early. This winter, mosquito colonies were active into December. Well-known entomologist Peter Berx spoke about this on VRT news1. "If it stays warm - sufficiently warm - for an extended period of time, and there is enough standing water, you get new populations. (...) Because of global warming, warmer periods than normal have become more frequent. Generally speaking, the warmer and more humid, the better for mosquitoes."
Furthermore, the first pollen reports are also coming earlier and earlier, another reason why the screen season is lasting longer and longer. After all, with mosquito nets, hay fever and annoying buzzing and other forms of nuisance from insects can be prevented.
"Luxaflex® Screens are very durable, high quality and suitable for almost any type of window and door," said Silvia Jagtenberg of Luxaflex® Netherlands. "Every Luxaflex® Hor is custom-made. So there is a solution for virtually every home and window type. The screens offer maximum ventilation, optimal protection against insects and are often also available with pollen-repelling mesh against hay fever. Various profile colors are available, such as white, cream, pine green, anthracite and silver. Another RAL color can also be chosen at an additional cost. Furthermore, various mesh colors and types are available."
According to Silvia Jagtenberg, Plissé Window Screen Raffina is functional, suitable for many windows and especially for taller and/or wider windows and tilt-and-turn windows. "This custom-made window screen is easy to operate due to the vertical operating strip when applied to tall and/or hard-to-reach windows. This pleated window screen has a built-in depth of only 22 mm and stops in any desired position."
Poll-tex® is a proven solution for people with hay fever, according to Luxaflex®. While it provides fresh air inside, it keeps pollen out. Thanks to its electrostatic coating, this mesh blocks nearly 100% of pollen. Poll-tex® has relatively high air permeability and transparency and is also very durable.
