Coulisse commits sustainable roller blind fabric Eco Essence to Trashpackers

Coulisse, global supplier of window coverings, connects the 2018 introduced, 100% recycled roller blind fabric Eco Essence to Trashpackers. This young platform contributes to a cleaner world by activating backpackers to clean up trash worldwide and provide education to local communities. Coulisse donates part of the proceeds of Eco Essence to Trashpackers. With this Coulisse increases the impact of its sustainably developed roller blind fabric.

Coulisse loves Trashpackers
Trashpackers founder Tijmen Sissing of the Netherlands went viral in 2018 with videos of the clean-ups he organized on polluted beaches during his trip through Southeast Asia. Since then, he has been activating other backpackers around the world to help him in his mission: collect 100,000 bags of trash in a year. Through local media, Coulisse came across Trashpackers. "Trashpackers is a huge inspiration for us," says Christiaan Roetgering, owner of Coulisse. "The essence of our cooperation is our shared motivation to contribute to a better, cleaner world by turning plastic waste into valuable products. By helping each other, we can make an even bigger impact." Coulisse will donate a portion of the proceeds from Eco Essence to Trashpackers.

Eco Essence: 30% less impact on environment
Based on the mission to contribute to a better world, Coulisse develops alternatives to conventional roller blind fabrics made of polyester. At the R+T 2018 in Stuttgart, Coulisse introduced Eco Essence. The sustainable roller blind fabric is made from 100% recycled PET bottles and has the same natural texture and functional properties as roller blind fabrics made from non-recycled materials. For one square meter of Eco Essence, 11 recycled PET bottles are used. In producing the roller blind fabric, 50% less energy and water is used than in producing a conventional polyester roller blind fabric. The production of Eco Essence has 30% less impact on the environment. This is in line with Coulisse's mission to take the window covering industry to the next level and contribute to creating comfortable, healthy and sustainable spaces.

Eco Essence is twice awarded with the U.S. WCMA Product Award for Best Technical Innovation in the sustainability category. The fabric is suitable for roller and panel blinds and available from stock. The durable roller blind fabric has a width of 280 cm and is available in seven timeless colors.
