Sattler: Innovation and tradition have gone hand in hand for no less than 150 years.

In 1875, craftsman August Sattler started a small business trading in rubber and gutta-percha products. Gutta-percha is a natural rubber-like material extracted from the sap of certain tropical trees (particularly Palaquium species from Southeast Asia). The material hardens when cooled and softens when heated. This makes it highly malleable yet sturdy. With this business, he laid the foundation for what has now grown into a leading international player in technical textiles and sun protection solutions.What once began with the production of fire hoses has grown over the course of a century and a half into the Sattler Group—a globally operating concern with locations in Austria and the United States. The group consists of two subsidiaries: Sattler PRO-TEX GmbH, which specializes in industrial applications such as truck tarpaulins and textile architecture, and Sattler SUN-TEX GmbH, which develops high-quality fabrics for sun protection, boat covers, and outdoor furniture.

With an export share of more than 80 percent, Sattler supplies 55 countries worldwide. Approximately 650 employees, more than half of whom work at the headquarters in Gössendorf, Austria, are committed to producing top-quality textile products every day. Innovation is central to this. The company works closely with universities and research institutes and has its own laboratories.

Based on current market needs, Sattler is also setting new standards in the field of vertical sun protection. The Twilight collection is completely PVC-free and combines aesthetics with functionality. It is a sustainable solution for a wide range of architectural applications.

The examples at a glance:

• Twilight Comfort is a PVC-free screen with an opening factor of 4%. This fabric makes optimal use of daylight, while maintaining visibility and heat regulation. The combination of spin-dyed acrylic and polyester filament offers excellent UV resistance and durability. The fabric is ideal for large ZIP systems and ensures a sleek and even fabric appearance. The eight neutral color variants fit in well with modern facade designs.
• Twilight Elements, available from summer 2025, complements the collection with a completely opaque version (opening factor 0%). This version is tailored to the color scheme of Twilight Comfort and is ideal for private homes where privacy is paramount.
• Twilight Pearl has been specially developed for use in public buildings with increased fire safety requirements. This flame-retardant PES fabric is certified according to DIN EN 13501-1 and features a durable acrylic coating for outdoor use. With an opening factor of 1.9%, Twilight Pearl offers visual protection and sufficient daylight. This is ideal for projects where safety and comfort must go hand in hand.

All Twilight fabrics are completely PVC- and PFAS-free and carry the OEKO-TEX® Made in Green label. This underlines Sattler's clear commitment to environmentally friendly and socially responsible production.
