PHYSEE, developer of coatings, solar and sensor technology, has fitted some 510m2 of facade of the new Dura Vermeer Inspiration Centre in Utrecht with SmartWindows. These are equipped with sensors, solar panels and SmartSkin technology, which predicts internal climate requirements based on local insights. The technology responds to this with proactive climate control by automatically switching with Kindow and Luxaflex® shading systems. In addition to energy savings of up to 30%, this creates a healthy and comfortable working environment for building occupants.
"We wanted to achieve the healthiest professional mini-community," says Peter Krop, director Dura Vermeer Construction and Real Estate Division. "That means we go much further than 'just green.' People's health is paramount; they must be able to work in an optimal working environment in which they can perform at their best. That is not only important for us as an employer, but especially for the people themselves." The new Dura Vermeer Inspiration Centre on the A2 in Utrecht reflects the ambitions of construction group Dura Vermeer, which is committed to sustainability, digitalization and innovation. It strongly aligns with the essence of PHYSEE: sustainability without compromise. In the realization of this new building, as many sustainable design and construction measures as possible were used, which were awarded the level "excellent" in the BREEAM sustainability certification. In August 2020, PHYSEE began installing the SmartWindows, whose construction could be completed in October.

The 50 international employees of PHYSEE (physics + seeing = PHYSEE) want to use technology to create a more sustainable, comfortable and healthy world.
