During Polyclose early this year, sun protection specialists from the Netherlands and Belgium could find Nice and elero under one roof, on the same booth. "The German manufacturer of tube and linear motors elero joined the Nice Group in 2011," Alain Goffart, Managing Director of Nice Benelux, refreshed the memory. "In the beginning, elero's products complemented Nice's product range. Today, the two brands supply a wide range of tubular motors for all possible applications."
"Meanwhile, we are all going through a strange year, but in spite of this we have not been idle within the Nice Group," continued Goffart. "To maximize the potential of our brands and products in the Benelux, we have jointly decided to build a structured offer for our customers. That includes manufacturers, assemblers and installers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. The result of these efforts is that elero is now fully integrated into Nice Benelux and we now have one business unit Sun Shading Solutions that focuses on tubular motors within all Nice Group brands. In the Benelux, elero accounts for a large part of this."
The regular range of tubular motors for sun blinds, screens and roller shutters is still the basis, but this year it is mainly the solar motors that are causing the breakthrough, Nice Benelux notes. "In the construction and renovation of buildings, more and more attention is being paid to energy-saving concepts," says Alain Goffart. "At the same time, automation solutions are expected to be 100% reliable and user-friendly. Is automation also possible when there is no electrical connection or when, as in some older buildings, the power cannot or should not be drawn to the window? It is precisely for this purpose that elero brings the RolSolar M-868 direct current drive system to the market."
According to elero, RolSolar is ideal for motorizing shutters and awnings in places where an electrical connection is missing, such as pool houses, pergolas and garages. However, architects and installers who want to offer their customers environmentally friendly and efficient automation could also benefit from this innovative motor. "The plus points of this solution are convincing," Goffart believes. "More security and comfort, the possibility of protecting one's privacy and lower cooling and heating costs, without the need for any chopping and breaking before installation!"
The RolSolar 868 radio motor, batteries and solar panel can be easily connected using a plug-in cable, without connection to the mains or to a control unit. The end positions are set directly remotely.
"The standalone drive system is powered by powerful 12V NiMH batteries, a clear guarantee of the system's durability," Goffart said. "The battery is charged using a solar panel, which is available in a bolted or bonded version. An additional solar panel, battery or charger can be added at any time. This is especially useful for north-facing systems."
Since it is a low-voltage solution without an electrical connection, the sun protection specialist can install the drive system even if he is not a qualified electrician. The RolSolar D+ 868 is also available for the industrial production of roller shutter elements. The plug-and-play version of the motor automatically detects and stores the end positions.
The use of solar solutions is trendy, notes Goffart. "With RolSolar we offer a range of efficient and market-oriented products of 10 Nm and 20 Nm and even 40 Nm that we showed at Polyclose for the first time to the trade audience from the Benelux countries."
