Freestanding slatted roof Artares

In Cologne's Langel district, client Michael Fahnert has created a special outdoor room for himself. In the middle of his large garden, a cubist slatted roof covers the rectangular swimming pool with countercurrent and the modern seating area. "Equipped with many extras for even more comfort and atmosphere, this architectural showpiece from Weinor enriches our garden with a dream terrace," says Fahnert. 

The shadow of the half-open slats draws interesting light-dark contrasts on the terrace and the water surface of the pool. It is precisely this play of light that Fahnert enjoys most. Reminiscent of the shadow play of southern blinds, it creates a Mediterranean atmosphere in the Rhine area. "With its clean design, the cubic roof shape fits perfectly into our garden," the client believes. 

High quality rain and wind protection

Because Michael Fahnert, as an outdoor fan, spends almost every day in the garden, he has long wanted reliable rain and wind protection "made in Germany. Now, in rainy weather, he can simply close his slatted roof with the hand transmitter and spend protected time on the terrace. As an assembler at Weinor specialist dealer Rolladen König, however, the awning expert also knows how important effective blocking of UV radiation is. "The Artares offers very flexible sun protection. After all, thanks to the rotating slats, the incidence of light in sunshine can be individually controlled and the canopy offers effective UV protection at any position of the sun for a carefree stay outdoors!" Another requirement was that the rain and wind protection should be both variable and solid and would meet high requirements with regard to functionality and aesthetics. 

The new slat roof had only just come on the market when Fahnert took the opportunity to realize his desired dream terrace with many individual details. Always a good climate

With the remote control, not only the incidence of light, but also the temperature under the slatted roof can be regulated. When it gets too hot, Michael Fahnert simply opens the slats and the warm air that has accumulated under the roof flows out through the slat roof upwards. In this way, the climate on the terrace can be controlled very simply via the opening angle of the slats. Rainwater is drained through the slightly tilted roof into gutters and down through uprights. 

Automatic control via sensor technology

For added safety, the Artares is equipped with a weather sensor that closes the roof in the event of excessive sun or rain from a set threshold. In low temperatures or when frost threatens, the automatic brings the slats into a slightly tilted position to prevent them from freezing together. The slats also open automatically in the event of snow to reduce the load on the roof. 

Sun protection and privacy thanks to vertical blinds

Michael Fahnert equipped his slatted roof with vertical awnings to protect the side terrace from prying eyes and/or a low sun. Like the roof, they are controlled by handheld transmitter. In addition, the vertical awnings can be used to create a cozy atmosphere in the evening. "The sophisticated design of the vertical blinds ensures that the screens disappear completely into the attic, or the edge of the roof, when rolled in," Fahnert adds.

Pure atmosphere

Not only during the day, the slatted roof provides interesting optical effects. Since Michael Fahnert also likes to spend time in his garden in the evening, he is very pleased with the various atmospheric colors that can be realized with the LED lighting of the Artares. ´The uprights and the attic of the roof are equipped with high-quality color LED strips that enable a wide spectrum of dimmable colors. The color LED strips in the slats spread warm white light. Both can be controlled very easily by remote control. For me, this option is very important," de Fahnert emphasizes. "I choose the color that best suits my mood or the occasion."
