Solar applications continue to gain in popularity when it comes to solar shading. Understandably so, because these products have the advantage that no holes need to be drilled for cables. However, the battery takes up some space. "We have therefore come up with a new screen model," explains SunCircle engineer Jasper Fidder, "This is optimized for Somfy solar."
Manufacturer SunCircle has more than 35 years of experience in the development of awnings and shutters. "Solar products are of course not new anymore, but the advance continues. They therefore have many advantages, because the facade remains intact and the client does not actually even have to be present during installation."
SunCircle had been working with Somfy solar for some time. However, these batteries did not fit well in current models, or were difficult to access after installation. "Based on the R90 screen, we therefore developed a new product. At 110 mm, this G110 appears slightly higher; however, the transparency of both products is the same. This is because we have integrated the bottom bar, which is visible on the R90, into the G110. That space is utilized by the battery, which is at the front."
According to Fidder, the position and accessibility of the battery are very important. "Motors last longer than batteries. Therefore, for replacement or service you need to be able to access the battery easily. The click innovation we use in our new two-piece guide, we also used in the G110. The cover lip is reused and here serves as a "service hatch" so you can easily access the battery cables. To remove the battery in its entirety, the bottom cover must be disassembled."
The G110 is similar in size to the R90, with a maximum size of 4 by 3.5 meters. "Of course we use our new guide for this, which keeps the screen nice and tight. The new product has been delivered for a few weeks and the response has been very positive!"
