"Lighting makes people feel safe and comfortable on the patio even at night," observes Production and Technology Director Michael Gerling of markilux. "Lights can be mounted in a decking or on the wall, but awnings and patio covers can also be very well equipped with lighting. For this, we have a versatile range of LED systems that invite the end user to enjoy warm summer evenings outside into the small hours."
Screens provide useful protection from bright sun and high temperatures, but they can also be useful in the evening, Gerling notes. "Equipped with LED spots, they can help create a cozy atmosphere on the patio. Depending on the type and function, the lighting provides accent, ambient or bright light. At markilux, we have different LED systems in the range, which can be combined with the various awnings."
"These systems include rotatable, high-quality spotlights that can be infinitely dimmed. Depending on the model and screen width, up to six of these can be attached to the front frame of articulated awnings and, in the case of pergola screens, to the lighting tube. They provide a subtle beam of light on the façade and/or beautiful accents on the fabric. The LED-Line from markilux, which can also be dimmed, instead provides even, linear light," Gerling explains. "Depending on the type of screen, the LED-Line is installed in the cassette or on guides, on the lighting tube or, in the case of some of our articulated screens, on the sides in the arms. In the latter case, the light shines downward, indirectly illuminating the fabric or the house wall." Both LED systems can be controlled by remote control and via the app of Somfy's TaHoma Switch smart home system. In addition, a freely mountable light bar called LED-Spotline is available. It includes up to five spotlights. The light bar is available in sizes 180 or 300 cm. "In turn, the MX-1 compact features its own unique lighting option," says Gerling, "because with this screen, the outward-facing front panel of the front frame can be fitted with atmospheric LED lighting, optionally in the five accent colors traffic white, light ivory, yellow, red and green."
In particular, the MX models, all pergola covers - markilux refers to them as pergola screens - and the markilux markant, as well as some articulated blinds, can be fitted with LED systems in various combinations.
The MX-4 has a wide range of lighting options. In addition to all-new spotlights, an LED Line can also be integrated. Furthermore, LEDs can optionally be mounted in the ends of the screen, and matching wall lights in the model's design are available for mounting on the house wall.
Finally, there is a special lighting technology that uses different lamps. Thus, depending on the situation, the color of the LED elements can be adjusted as desired. This can be done via io technology or with an app, which can also be used to create warm, colorful and cool color scenes.
According to Michael Gerling, the extensive arsenal of energy-efficient LED lighting provides atmospheric lighting options, especially in the dimmable variants. "But of course, the end user can also use our LED spotlights to create conditions for reading, or to illuminate the facade. Moreover, a well-lit terrace at night gives a safe feeling, for the residents themselves because they can see where they are walking, but also to deter any malicious persons. So there can be numerous reasons to provide an awning or pergola with the LED lighting to suit one's needs and desires."
