First Base: 'High-quality screw foundation for a solid foundation'

Wholesaler in screw foundations and assembly tools FIRST BASE Ground Screws BV has in recent years grown into one of the largest suppliers in screw foundations in the Benelux. A team of experts is ready to support customers in their foundation work. 

"FIRST BASE screw foundations are suitable for numerous applications," says Camile Gisbers, Sales Director at FIRST BASE Ground Screws. "Think, for example, of modular homes and tiny houses, but also of wooden and aluminum patio covers, garden houses, pergolas, verandas, decking, fencing and gates, for which screw foundations provide a fast, cost-efficient, durable and solid foundation." 

FIRST BASE Ground Screws supplies screw foundations in six different diameters, namely ø 63 mm and ø 68 mm for lightweight playground equipment and small pergolas and ø 76 mm, ø 89 mm, ø 114 mm and ø 140 mm for heavier loads. 

"Contractors can choose from fixed lengths with a flange plate or extendable systems where the screw foundations can be coupled to exactly the desired depth," Gisbers says. "Even with the shorter screws of 100 cm, frost-free laying and optimum stability is already guaranteed." 

For the assembly of the screw foundations, FIRST BASE supplies various types of electric machines. "In addition, we have two models of tracked vehicles, with which we can deliver torque forces of up to as much as 12,000 Nm," said Gisbers. "The machines are manufactured in close cooperation with our German and Italian manufacturers and naturally comply with all relevant standards." 

In-house engineering department

FIRST BASE Ground Screws BV has its own engineering department. When the probing reports are available, with which the load-bearing capacity of the soil is known, the engineers at FIRST BASE Ground Screws can combine these data with the maximum pile loads. "This allows us to calculate exactly which screw foundations of what diameter and length are needed at the site under investigation to ensure a solid foundation," Gisbers explains. "The bearing capacity calculations are processed in a report in accordance with the official Eurocodes. On this basis, the permit process and planning can be completed without any problems. When no sounding reports are available, we can do our own pressure and tensile tests with equipment developed by FIRST BASE Ground Screws." 

Fast and cost-effective

Unlike the application of concrete piles, for example, with screw foundations, excavating the foundation, placing foundation tiles and filling with (quick) concrete and water are not an issue, Gisbers said. "The screw foundations can be assembled immediately, saving valuable labor and drying time. After installing the screw foundations, construction can begin immediately." 

Durable and solid

The steel FIRST BASE screw foundations are hot-dip galvanized, which, according to Gisbers, guarantees high stability and a long service life of up to more than 80 years. "Even with fairly simple screw foundations and small diameters, considerable loads can be absorbed, which is why the screw foundations have a wide range of applications. If required, the screw foundations can also be easily removed again without leaving material residues in the soil. It is even possible to reuse the screw foundations elsewhere. In this way, we are perfectly in line with today's desire for circular construction."
