Cubist cassette awning also for more compact terraces

In times of housing shortage, compact but well-equipped living spaces are very popular. But the search for a sun protection that is also as compact is not always easy - especially when it has to be both high-quality and optically attractive. For example, an apartment owner in Germany was looking for a cassette awning with a linear design for his 15-square-meter terrace. With the cubist awning Smaila from weinor, he found a high-quality awning.

To provide residents with the greatest possible enjoyment of the outdoors, the facade of the modern apartment complex built in 2020 in Halle an der Saale has west-facing terraces and balconies. But here in particular, the sun shines for a very long time during the day, which can make it very hot in the summer months. Therefore, the owner of an apartment in the complex consisting of 14 apartments visited the specialist retailer and expert in sun protection, Rofupa in Halle. Kai Pitzschke, the company's managing director, recommended to him the Smaila cassette awning from weinor; a high-quality awning which, thanks to its compact shape, is also perfectly suited to compact terraces.  

High load capacity due to advanced technology

When retracted, fabric and technology rest securely in the cassette. Thanks to its consistently cubist design, the cassette literally melts together with the metal construction of the balconies above, blending harmoniously into the overall picture. With the handheld transmitter, the awning can also be rolled in and out very easily." 

Powder coating for a durable awning 

In addition to the design, the owner attached great importance to the durability of his sun protection. Here, too, the specialist dealer was able to score with convincing arguments. The powder-coating of the cassette awning is done in the manufacturer's own systems and thus ensures the same color with identical degree of gloss even with subsequent extensions, such as side screens. The wide selection of colors with more than 200 frame colors made it possible to find exactly the same gray color as the metal construction of the overhead balconies, so that it looks as if everything is one. 

Dyed throughout with spin bath paints 

For special UV resistance and durability, the awning fabric is spider-dyed. This means that the color pigment is already introduced into the fiber during the spinning process. Unlike yarn or piece dyeing, in which the existing material is dyed afterwards. From approximately 170 fabric designs, the owners selected the purist solid gray color to match the awning's frame and the colors of the complex. Now awning and fabric form the subtle frame, in which the colorful patio furniture is shown off very well.  

Atmospheric lighting

To kill two birds with one stone, the owners opted for a variant with integrated LED spots. These spread an atmospheric, directly directed light and can even be dimmed by remote control. This transformed the terrace into an outdoor room that can be used late into the evening.  

With the new sun protection came coziness and the flair of textiles on the terrace. At the same time, the outdoor seating area gained more privacy from the balconies above. In any case, the family is very happy that they can now be outside even more. And also the well-tended potted plants are safely protected from too much sunlight.
