markilux: 'MX awning family expanded with the MX-2'

For markilux, design is synonymous with modern living culture. "Good design is a selling point," says Director of Production and Technology Michael Gerling. "The design is partly an indication of the quality of a product and which lifestyle it suits: modern, classic, cozy, playful or individual and creative. With the design of the new cassette awning MX-2, markilux reinterprets the term 'modern' as far as awnings are concerned."

Minimalist design

"Design is not just fancy packaging. Form and expression of a product convey a message," Gerling believes. According to him, the distinct design of the MX-2 represents minimalist elegance and high-quality technology. "The design of the MX-2 is inspired by contemporary architecture and modern design concepts. How does an awning fit different architectural styles and at the same time distinguish itself as a style element. The result of these considerations is a subtle design with striking details. For example, the elongated cassette merges on both sides into beautifully designed curves that emphasize the flowing shape of the cassette."

Technical developments

The technology of the MX-2 is mainly based on the markilux 970. For example, the screen also has a tilting hinge with integrated wind protection. In the event of a strong gust of wind, the screen straightens and then bends at a preset angle. The tilt hinges are located on the right and left sides of the housing. One advantage is that more fabric can be seen because, after all, the arms are not directly in the field of vision.

Like a number of other markilux screens, the MX-2 has a multifunctional groove at the bottom of the cassette. An LED Line, LED spots and a heat radiator can be fitted in this. Almost invisible brackets ensure that the cassette fits securely on the wall or ceiling.

Construction

"The MX-2 is manufactured largely from extruded aluminum and cast aluminum and is therefore high-quality," Michael Gerling emphasizes. According to him, because of its slim, elongated design, the screen comes into its own best with large widths. The screen is therefore offered up to 5 m wide with a 3.5 m projection or in 6 m wide with a 3 m projection. The MX-2 is available in the seven classic frame colors and in 2022 also in the five special High Five colors, about which more below.
