BREL HOME is taking two clear steps forward with the introduction of the Matter Hub 04 and the acquisition of German company Vestamatic. The Dutch company emphatically opts for innovation, ease of use and international growth.
The Hub 04 will be the new standard for smart shading. In doing so, BREL is saying goodbye to previous generations of hubs. “Once we started with Hub 02, which worked fine, but wasn't that fancy. The Hub 03 brought bluetooth connectivity, which made pairing much easier. With the Hub 04, it's just as easy, but fully Matter-supported. With this, users can pair their blinds with Apple, Samsung or Google devices without any problems,” says Erik Budding, director of BREL HOME.
According to Budding, customers need not worry about making the switch. “People can easily migrate to Hub 04. The older hubs were based on the Home App, Hub 04 works with the Matter by BREL app. That's a slightly different environment, but the pairing is mostly easier and better.” Interestingly, the latest generation is not more expensive, but actually cheaper. “This is a conscious choice so that the technology is even more accessible to our customers.”

Matter is an international standard that lets devices from different brands work together. For BREL, this is the future. “We think everything is moving toward Matter. As long as you are in the protocol, it can work. All motors for indoor blinds can already be paired with Hub 04. For example, you can set the blinds to automatically lower as soon as the thermostat registers that it's getting warm. That interplay not only provides comfort, but also energy savings.” With that vision, BREL emphatically positions itself in the Smart Home domain, where connectivity and energy management are becoming increasingly important.

In addition to product innovation, BREL is also focusing on international expansion. With the acquisition of the German company Vestamatic, the company is laying a solid foundation. The company supplies hospitals, office buildings and the shading industry, among others. Since 1981, it has specialized in motors, advanced communication protocols such as SMI, KNX and Modbus, and sensors for time and light control.
For BREL, the move means direct access to the German market and the creation of the Brel Vestamatic Group. “Vestamatic is strongly focused on the project market in Western Europe. For us this is a great addition, although it is a challenge to redesign the supply chain. It's also the only way to really get a foothold in Germany: with German people and a German office. Now we have that network,” says Budding.
The new structure is headed by Reinoud Arts, managing director of BREL MOTORS and since July 1 managing director of Vestamatic GmbH. “With Vestamatic, we are building technological progress in Germany. I look forward to combining our battery motor technology with German engineering and communication protocols. Together we are giving solar shading innovation a powerful boost in Germany,” said Arts.
Budding emphasizes that the acquisition is more than a commercial move. “With Vestamatic we are taking a solid step towards our ambition to anchor European markets as well as innovate. Germany is an important hub for technology and quality. As of July 1, we are investing in motors that save energy and make living and working environments really smarter.”
