In the previous issue, Z&R covered the introduction of markilux format, a system to provide protection from wind and prying eyes. This modular system, which consists of rectangular aluminum frames into which awning fabric is stretched, is fixed with poles in the ground. With format slide, markilux is already taking the next step, because using multiple guide rails, the panel elements can now also be used as variable partition walls.
"Sight and wind protection from textiles has the advantage of shielding a room while still allowing enough air to pass through the fabric to keep the temperature comfortable," explains Markilux Director of Production and Technology Michael Gerling. "But people may also want to be able to enjoy unobstructed views in between. This is why markilux now offers the protective element format as format slide also as a sliding system for balconies, open carports, patio covers or indoor applications, for example. With our terrace canopy markant, they can serve as variable walls, with which the outdoor seating area can be closed off all around as desired."
In the slide version, the rectangular aluminum frames with sunprotection fabric can be moved over bottom guide rails. Depending on the width of the protection to be realized, up to five panel elements can be combined in different variants. These move depending on number and size in double or triple stainless steel guide rails. In the case of the Markant textile canopy, markilux recommends using the triple guide rail, as it blends in nicely with the uprights.
The height of individual panel elements can range from 100 and 250 cm. The maximum width of a panel is 130 cm. In total, a multi-element format slide system can be between 200 and 600 cm.
The bottom and guide rails must be securely attached to a support structure for safe operation. Using height-adjustable runners, the frames move smoothly and safely in the guides. At the top, the frames are fixed in sliding profiles that must ensure low-noise guiding.
Als a panorama window can be integrated into the fabric even when it is closed. Also with this new format slide, the fabric is tightly stretched through the use of a special system. The frames of the slide are available in seven standard colors and a number of special colors.
