"For a long time there has been talk of a possible decline in popularity of the traditional articulated awning. The cause would then be the rise of alternatives, such as the veranda roof, the pergola awning and other exotic solutions. But we don't notice any of that at all for the time being!" Says Robert Bosch of Rainbowsol. "We are still seeing an increase in the number of articulated awnings sold every year," he continues. "While the market is being somewhat skimmed by those alternatives, not to the extent that we notice it substantially in volumes. Those remain large and growing, with the provisional highs being the 'corona seasons' 2020 and 2021."

"We can safely say that as a manufacturer, Rainbowsol does have just about the widest range of knikarm screens on the Dutch market," says Bosch. "In addition to the 'old-fashioned' 78/110 screens, the Malta and the Rhodes - still popular, by the way, with part of the slightly older public or people with a narrow budget who still need shade - in the two-tube screen range we have the popular Ibiza, a semi-cassette screen, and the Ibiza Plus cassette screen, the streamlined Balero with semi-circular or rounded front frame and the Palma. In the three-tube segment we have the extremely strong Corfu, the new Balero XL and the Marbella, which is particularly popular in the hospitality industry. Most of these screens are also available from stock.

To continue and expand the success of the articulated awning product group, Rainbowsol has released two more screens. They are the Q-230, a two-tube screen up to 5.5 m wide, and the three-tube screen Q-240 up to 6.5 m wide. They are part of the Q series, as are the drop-down screen Q-105 and the zipscreen Q-100. "All in an eye-catching modern sleek design and when introduced, rewarded with the Z&R Product of the Year Award," Bosch said.

According to Bosch, what is true of articulated blinds is also true of drop awnings: "They have not been phased out by a long shot! They are not sold as massively by our dealers as screens, for example, but in volume they are still sufficient to maintain a reasonably extensive program. In addition to the ever-popular Carré, we also have the good old 50/80 and 65/110, in both the drop-out and slide-out versions. We also have the cassette version Crete and - as already mentioned - even a new drop screen in the form of the sleekly designed Q-105."
"In short, two product groups that are far from having lost popularity, on the contrary, which we as a manufacturer continue to work hard for by keeping the range complete and up-to-date," Bosch concludes.
