Thanks to upgrade kit for roller blinds

Eve MotionBlinds has been named a CES 2023 Innovation Award Honoree in the smart home category thanks to its upgrade kit for blinds. Coulisse is coming out with new Matter firmware updates in Q1 of this year, making Eve MotionBlinds the first smart blinds motors on the market to use Matter-over-Thread. After the introduction of Eve MotionBlinds a year ago, these innovations mark another breakthrough for smart window coverings.

Coulisse and Eve Systems

Coulisse launched Eve MotionBlinds a year ago in collaboration with German smart home specialist Eve Systems as an extension of MotionBlinds, Coulisse's concept for smart window coverings. "Eve Systems and we saw a gap in the market and then brought our designers and engineers together to develop the very first smart motors for window coverings that use the latest smart home technologies," said Christiaan Roetgering, founder and owner of Coulisse. "The new motors support Thread and Matter and can function seamlessly in any smart home environment. Smart blinds increase comfort, enhance security and help save energy, making them an essential smart home product category."

"This allows our products to work seamlessly with other devices that support the universal smart home standard Matter. Coulisse has received the innovation award for its Eve MotionBlinds upgrade kit for roller blinds. The award was presented during CES 2023, the world's most influential tech event, held Jan. 5-8 in Las Vegas. Eve MotionBlinds is in select company with other CES 2023 award winners, including Samsung, Sony, LG, and Microsoft.

Upgrade kit for roller blinds

The Eve MotionBlinds upgrade kit for roller blinds is another first, according to Christiaan Roetgering. "With this retrofit solution, standard roller blinds around the world can be equipped with Thread technology and the extended features of Apple Home and the Eve App. The kit can be easily installed in existing blinds, without the need for special technical knowledge or cabling. Included in the kit are mounting brackets, covers and a set of innovative adapters that allow the motors to be easily installed in a wide range of roller blind tubes." 

Matter becomes available for Eve MotionBlinds

Coulisse and Eve are working to launch a Matter firmware update for all Eve MotionBlinds products at the end of Q1. That means plug-and-play interoperability and platform independence. The original Eve MotionBlinds motor for blinds, launched during CES 2022, is already Matter certified. Matter is going to ensure that Eve MotionBlinds motors can work with all four major smart home platforms, namely Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings. 

Eve MotionBlinds for honeycomb pleats and blinds

Expanding the Eve MotionBlinds range for custom blinds - available through a global network of Coulisse partners - Eve MotionBlinds is now also available for honeycomb pleated blinds and Venetian blinds. Eve MotionBlinds for Honeycomb is a multifunctional motor for high-quality honeycomb pleated blinds. Plissés of this type have excellent insulating properties that contribute to optimal thermal and acoustic comfort, while the horizontal lines of the fabrics create a special optical effect. Eve MotionBlinds for Venetian is specially designed for both lowering, raising and tilting of both wood and aluminum blinds. Venetian blinds are a timeless classic, allowing both shading, light and privacy to be controlled as desired.

About Thread

Thread technology was developed specifically for smart home applications to improve connectivity between products. HomeKit devices can now communicate not only via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, but also via Thread. The big difference is that Thread creates a mesh network.
