How Warema's SolarKit delivers complete year-round power

Automated shading is the new trend - for greater comfort, efficiency and sustainability. With Warema's SolarKit, roller shutter and frame screen drives can be powered very simply by an integrated solar cell via a programmed wireless handheld transmitter - without mains connection, wall penetrations or complicated wiring. This makes retrofitting particularly attractive for conversions, offering great potential for specialist retailers and renovators. To ensure that the system works optimally all year round, it is important to position the solar module correctly. The following practical tip explains how it works.

To unleash the full potential of the SolarKit, the panel needs as much direct light as possible - because that's when the battery is charged to its fullest potential. Ideal is south orientation with an unobstructed view of the sky and a radiation angle of at least 60°. However, southwest, southeast, east or west orientations are also suitable - provided there is no shadow from roof overhangs, trees or neighboring facade elements. To avoid heavily shaded installation areas, the panel can simply be mounted above or below the window in the case of shutters, or on a forward-projecting facade element. For more flexibility, suitable extension cables are available.

Some installation locations are not suitable for mounting because they limit the performance of the SolarKit too much. These include any areas where the panel is shaded: for example, deep window frames, large roof overhangs such as at gable ends, areas under balconies or behind glass porches. Trees or neighboring buildings can also reduce energy output by casting shadows. The same applies to north-facing areas that are additionally shaded. If a panel is to be installed on the north side, it must have a clear view of the sky all around to provide adequate daylight.

Summary: Optimal position for maximum performance
With an optimally chosen mounting location, Warema's SolarKit unfolds its full effect - simply and reliably.
