Name still unknown, but... Gibus' new pergola offers many more possibilities and opportunities!

When asked whether Gibus will be presenting a new product at Polyclose in January, Martijn Westenbrink immediately responds with a smile. “Of course! We owe it to the visitors to the fair. They want to see something new. After all, there always has to be a good reason to travel to Ghent. What are we bringing? Well... it's the first time we're presenting a new product together with Leiner. You could say, very clichéd, that it's the best of both worlds coming together, but... it's true!”

So they're excited about it at Gibus... and Leiner! Martijn describes the innovation as a second generation of an existing product. We're talking about pergolas. Gibus‘ Zero + and Leiner's WGB350SZ Pergola have been ’transformed“ into improved versions. ”Many more options have been added,“ Martijn explains. ”Think of subtle lighting, for example. You can also lower the sides and still have good drainage. There is also a wider choice of fabrics and designs... in short: a pergola that would not exist if Gibus and Leiner had not come together."

What will this new pergola be called? Martijn laughs again. “No, I'm not telling you that now. A novelty has to be a real novelty at the trade fair. I don't think most people reveal what they're going to call their baby before it's born. Everyone will find out at Polyclose!”

Intensive use

According to Martijn, this new pergola—whose name is still unknown—is better suited to current modern architecture. “But this pergola also proves that interiors and exteriors can be perfectly matched. There is a huge choice of fabrics and designs: that's hardly surprising with our Italian suppliers in this field, which means that private individuals will always find what they are looking for. Another important fact is that this pergola is suitable for private individuals who are looking for a product that they can really use intensively. In light rain: no problem at all. Even when it's windy... absolutely fine. So it's great that you don't have to bring your chair cushions inside right away.‘

Martijn and his colleagues have high expectations for this wonderful first concrete example of the merger between Gibus and Leiner. “In general, we are looking forward to 2026 with confidence. Yes, I sometimes read about doom scenarios, but I don't really believe in them. Because... there is still so much potential in our entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovative power. Of course, in the sun protection industry, you have to be more than proactive and get off your chair. Nothing happens by itself. And know that there are still a lot of people in the Netherlands and Belgium who are looking for something new and beautiful, such as this new pergola. So it's logical that we are proud to present it. We are looking forward to the Polyclose and... to 2026!”
