AVZ Group achieves a first: screens included in the Energy List 2026 for the first time 

Breakthrough in sun protection industry strengthens AVZ Group's role as knowledge partner in sustainable building design. 

AVZ-Group is proud to announce that, thanks to its efforts, screen sun protection in combination with HR+++ glass has been officially included in the Energy List 2026 of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). This is the first time that screens within the sun protection industry are eligible for the Energy Investment Allowance (EIA). 

This recognition represents a significant breakthrough for the market. Thanks to this approval, screens are now classified as an energy-saving measure that contributes to reducing cooling loads and improving the energy performance of buildings. 

Initiative from AVZ Group

Lindsay Wevers, Sustainability Manager, AVZ Group, took the initiative to enable the inclusion of screens on the Energy List. “Companies that invest in one or more technologies included on the Energy List can deduct an additional 40% of the investment costs from their taxable profits. This results in a net tax benefit of an average of 10% of the total investment,” says Wevers. With extensive technical substantiation, simulations, and documentation, the organization was able to convince the RVO of the energy-saving value of this application.

“Screens are playing an increasingly important role in reducing cooling loads and improving thermal comfort in buildings,” says Joris Koppens, Product Manager, AVZ Group. “We have demonstrated that high-quality, externally mounted screens achieve substantial energy savings. The fact that this has now been officially recognized by the RVO is an important step for our sector.” 

Importance for making the built environment more sustainable

With the inclusion in the Energy List, commercial end users, from non-residential construction to project developers and homeowners' associations, can benefit from tax advantages through the Energy Investment Allowance. This makes the use of sun protection in sustainable construction projects even more attractive.

Impact on design and construction professionals

The inclusion offers new opportunities for architects, consultants, and installers. With official recognition in the Energy List, screens can be more easily incorporated into energy concepts, BENG calculations, and now also subsidy processes. AVZ-Group expects this to significantly accelerate the adoption of professional sun protection in sustainable projects.
