VELUX Commercial launches Step solution for large glass surfaces

VELUX Commercial introduces the Step solution, a variant of the VELUX modular skylights. The new product features a unique stepped structure consisting of several interconnected skylight modules, specially designed for large glass areas such as atria. The new product enhances the aesthetics and quality of a building and provides maximum daylighting. It is suitable for utility buildings such as schools, health centers and office buildings both for new construction and renovation projects.

Sleek design in three variants

The new solution is available in three different applications: the Step pent roof 5-25°, the Step gable roof 25° and the Step gable roof 5-25° with ridge connection. Thanks to the slim support beams, the Step solutions offer maximum daylighting and a minimalist design. “The fact that the rows are so close together is a great advantage. This creates a larger area of glass and therefore even more daylight falls in. And that's great, because more daylight improves children's learning performance at school, for example,” says Ralph Westra, Advisor at VELUX Commercial.

Advantages of the Step solution

The Step solution further offers the same benefits as all VELUX modular skylights such as high energy efficiency, prefabricated flashings that have been extensively tested for water tightness, and the option to apply coatings and blinds that regulate temperature and the amount of daylight entering the building. Motorized ventilation is an option of choice, allowing (even) better control of interior temperature and smoke exhaust. In addition, the integrated chain motor ensures that there is no visible difference between the fixed and ventilating modules when closed, ensuring a sleek design.
