Coulisse, global supplier of window coverings, has won the 2018 American WCMA Product Award for Best Technical Innovation with the sustainable roller blind fabric Eco Essence and the child-safe roller blind mechanism Twin Pull. With Eco Essence, roller blind fabric made from 100% recycled PET bottles, Coulisse won the award in the sustainable products category for the second year in a row. Twin Pull, the child-safe alternative to the chain mechanism, was chosen in the folding and roller blind category. The awards ceremony will take place during the International Window Coverings Expo (IWCE) from March 8 to 10 in Nashville, USA.
The roller blind fabric Eco Essence developed by Coulisse is made of 100% recycled PET bottles and was again voted best technical innovation in the Sustainability category. Last year Coulisse started a collaboration with Trashpackers, the global platform for backpackers committed to a cleaner world by cleaning up trash. Christiaan Roetgering, owner of Coulisse, explains, ‘This charity is a huge inspiration for us and with this collaboration we can give Eco Essence even more value. Trashpackers and Coulisse share the mission to create a better world by turning plastic into sustainable products. We are proud that Eco Essence has once again been awarded a WCMA Product Award.’ Coulisse donates a portion of Eco Essence's sales to Trashpackers.
Eco Essence fabric is suitable for roller and panel blinds and available from stock. The plain fabric has the same natural texture and functional properties as roller blind fabric made of non-recycled material. Eco Essence has a width of 280 cm and is available in 8 colors.
After its launch at R+T 2018 in Stuttgart, Twin Pull, the mechanism developed by Coulisse for simple, child-safe roller blinds, now wins the WCMA Product Award for best technical innovation in the folding and roller blind category. Twin Pull provides an answer to the increasing demand for child-safe window covering solutions. Bas Klein Tuente, Manager Engineering at Coulisse, explains the simple but innovative idea behind Twin Pull: ‘The Twin Pull mechanism offers all the familiar features of the regular chain technology, but does not have the unsafe loop. We broke the operating chain, creating two chains. These are retractable and this is how the mechanism is driven.’ Twin Pull's design is inherently childproof, and no additional, separate parts are needed to make existing blinds childproof.
Twin Pull is available for windows of various sizes and system tubes up to 50mm in diameter. The mechanism is available in six colors with matching chain, chain weights and wands.
