VELUX Step solution wins Red Dot award for outstanding design quality

The Step solution, the latest type of VELUX modular skylights from VELUX Commercial has won the 2020 Red Dot Award in the Product Design category, thanks to its outstanding design quality. This makes the VELUX Group one of the winners of the world's most prestigious design competition.

Multiple rows of skylights directly coupled to form a glass roof

As the name suggests, the new VELUX Step solution has a unique stepped structure. Multiple rows of skylights are interconnected to create a large glass roof. The solution is characterized by a minimalist design, a coherent and aesthetic structure and slim support beams.

"We designed the VELUX Step solution to offer our customers a solution where maximum daylight enters through large glass surfaces. Now we not only have modules mounted side by side, but also offer this unique step structure. This way of fixing the modules are closer together. The flashings provide a watertight solution in the elegant design," explains Eric Gobes, Regional Sales Director of VELUX Commercial.

The Step solution is not only a technologically advanced product, but is designed specifically for public and utility buildings, both for new construction and renovation projects.

Detailed evaluation of the products that participated

In 2020, more than 6,500 products by designers and companies from 60 countries were submitted to this competition. "The winners of the Red Dot Award have proven that they have created outstanding products that deserve an award. The jury was convinced not only by the aesthetic value, but also by the unparalleled functionality. The Award winners are creating new benchmarks within their industry.
