GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2020 FOR OUTDOOR CURTAIN BOTANIC

GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2020 FOR OUTDOOR CURTAIN BOTANIC

SWELA OUTDOOR CURTAIN FALLS IN THE PRICES!

An atmospheric booth full of innovative solutions in cloth. That is how swela's booth at Polyclose 2020 could safely be described. "No shortage of visitors at the booth, even less of compliments," said swela director Wouter Hof. He and his team look back on Polyclose with satisfaction, where Outdoor Curtains were in the spotlight in full force.

"For the awning trade, the Outdoor Curtain may be a new product, but for home decorators it is not," Hof explains. "This is why we firmly believe that selling Outdoor Curtains also adds value for the blinds specialist."

Rewarded with a crowning achievement

At the basis of swela's Outdoor Curtains is the now familiar vuscreen fabric, says Hof. "The Livorno and Salerno variants are used to make the outdoor curtains. Because we supply Livorno and Salerno in the soft version, an Outdoor Curtain hangs beautifully pleated and does not flap at the slightest breeze. Add to that the enormously good technical properties of this fabric, such as a nanocoating and the use of polyester as a raw material, and you will understand that these curtains are simply weatherproof. Moreover, vuscreen is UV-resistant, recyclable and PVC-free. Those are good selling points in themselves, but of course the end user will fall for the aesthetic appeal more than anything else."

Meanwhile, swela is moving into the path of printing on its own canvas. Great results are being achieved with this, which could be seen at swela's stand at Polyclose. The combination of vuscreen Livorno, extravagant design and the printing technique yielded Outdoor Curtain Botanic, among others. "Now let's have been awarded with this particular design!" said a satisfied Hof. "Outdoor Curtain Botanic has won the German Design Award 2020. A reward for all the work that went into it and a great award that we are more than proud of. It proves that swela is also able to serve the high-end segment with technical tours de force combined with a special design. For swela, at any rate, a motivation to continue along the path we have taken."

You can also sit outside completely in style

It didn't stop at just one award for swela, by the way. The outdoor furniture fabric Grid also received a German Design Award. "Grid is also a soft variant of the PVC-free fabric from which vuscreen is woven," explains Hof. "In this case a beautiful, variegated weave at roll width 180 cm. Especially for upholstering garden furniture cushions and because of this weave width also suitable for upholstering cushions for recliners. Grid comes from our Cielo catalog and has the same beautiful properties as vuscreen. It is precisely by offering this type of fabric to the end customer that you can distinguish yourself as a specialist retailer. There is a market for high-quality, well-thought-out and aesthetically appealing outdoor fabrics. This is also the direction we want to take with swela. We want the added value we generate to benefit the sun protection specialist so that he or she can more easily serve a very interesting target group, namely the high-end shoppers."

Latex print in smells and colors

Another phenomenon presented by swela is the new latexprint technology. "With a lightfastness of 7-8, latexprint lends itself perfectly to outdoor use," Hof explains. "The great thing is that anyone can choose a design that swela has on the shelf, but they can also supply their own. Most importantly, latexprint combined with our resistant fabrics Outguard and Sunsilk produces stunning decors that are highly resistant in terms of both fabric and print. Not only beautiful for the home, to be enjoyed for a long time, but also for commercial applications. Think of hospitality or project awnings. We therefore like to get in touch with architects who want to return their own ideas about aesthetics see in zunweather cloth."
