'Becker Benelux is more than roller shutters and awnings'

A sustainable solution for every home automation situation

With its drives and controls for roller shutters and blinds, "made in Germany," Becker has been providing solutions to simplify life, living and working worldwide since 1921. "But our tube motors are also applicable in many other industries, including in smoke and fire alarm systems, in greenhouse construction, in swimming pool covers and health care," they know at subsidiary Becker Benelux in Maastricht.

Becker has witnessed the evolution of tube motors up close. Where some twenty-five years ago there was only one type of tubular motor with a mechanical limit switch, tubular motors with electronic limit switches followed, and finally the remotely controlled tubular motors. Becker was always a trendsetter in this, according to a spokesperson for Becker Benelux: "Already nineteen years ago we introduced the Centronic with the latest transmission frequency 868.3 MHz. In the course of time, the motors have been equipped with a number of additional functions, including obstacle detection, push-up protection and fabric release. And anno 2023, the Centronic can be controlled from any point in the house or even around the world via the Becker app."

Centronic Plus

Becker's latest generation of tubular motors is called Centronic Plus. "The special feature of these motors is that they work bidirectionally, which means that the current status of the devices can always be queried via the app. As with most of Becker's solutions, these new tube motors are compatible with the existing transmitters and motors of the Centronic program. This is highly appreciated by our customers. Also new to the Centronic program is the home control center CC41, which allows applications in the home to be easily controlled with the Becker app, smartphone, tablet or control panel." 

For many years, Becker has distinguished itself in that all products are developed and manufactured entirely in-house at its German headquarters. As a result, "deutsche Gründlichkeit" is always assured. "In addition, flexibility, excellent service and support, and short and reliable delivery times are paramount to us. In order to teach our customers throughout the Benelux countries to work optimally with our systems, we also offer regular product training courses." Becker Benelux drives provide automatic movement in the following areas, among others: 

- Smoke and fire alarm systems, which may include Fail Safe tube motors for smoke and fire screens/roller shutters

- DC drives for pool covers and sliding pool roofs

- Motorized shading systems and window systems for greenhouse construction

- Drives for lifting or lowering sports equipment, such as basketball screens 

- Assistive devices for locomotion and standing up for people with disabilities

SolarKit SK460

Environmental awareness is of paramount importance at Becker. A good example of this is the new Solar-Kit SK460: thanks to this mains-independent solution, roller shutter and screen applications can now also be powered via a solar panel. This innovative solar-powered motor solution includes a 6 or 10 Nm DC tubular motor, equipped with an electronic limit switch, soft-start-soft-stop system and blocking function. The motors can be controlled remotely using a Centronic transmitter, with the same settings as other remotely controlled tube motors.
