Joris Bullens of FIRST BASE Ground Screws: 'There are six guarantees professionals can literally build on'

It's a striking gem right there in Uden, Brabant. We visited the steadily growing FIRST BASE Ground Screws. We spoke with Joris Bullens, general manager. And we immediately talked in this interview about the six guarantees that professionals in change construction should be able to build on. Literally. And, figuratively.

New is the Solid 6, can you tell us more about it? 

Joris: "In the ten years that we have been operating, we have built a solid organization with a dedicated team of specialists. During this period we have listened carefully to our customers and analyzed why they choose us again and again. We have compiled these core values into the "Solid 6": six basic values that our clients can build on. For anyone who does not yet know us, these six guarantees make it clear at a glance what you can expect from FIRST BASE. For me, our 'Lowest Price Guarantee' and 'Certified Certainty' stand out in particular. Because we deliver large volumes every day, we can buy and sell competitively. At the same time, we have invested heavily in quality assurance according to European standards."

Joris: "We hear that more often, but with us it doesn't apply. We work exclusively with CE/UKCA-certified screw foundations, fully compliant with EN-1090-2. This means, among other things, that the chemical composition of the steel has been checked, and that production takes place in approved factories with demonstrable quality procedures. This prevents legal and financial risks for our customers. Our Lowest Price Guarantee therefore only applies to comparable products with demonstrable certification."

How does this concept fit within your broader vision and specifically on the veranda and canopy construction market? 

Joris: "Professionals in veranda construction are an important segment for us. Precisely for this type of construction - visible, aesthetic and customer-oriented - a reliable foundation is not an afterthought but a requirement. FIRST BASE also supplies a wider range of products: for instance, screw foundations for garden houses, carports, vacation homes and even ground-mounted solar constructions.  

What we see in all these segments is the demand for certainty and technical support. Where price-fighters leave the foundation issue with the customer, we take that worry off their hands. We support installers with advice, load capacity calculations and - where necessary - onsite testing." 

Have any interesting products been added to your range?

Joris: "Absolutely. We recently introduced the XE 5.0 power multiplier. This is an extension for to our popular XE 5.0 handheld torque multiplier. The force multiplier doubles the torque force - from 5,000 Nm to over 10,000 Nm. This makes it possible to turn heavier screw foundations into the ground and handle higher loads. Ideal for situations in which you are just short of power or want to switch to larger diameters, for example with larger greenhouses or roofs. 

Finally, you indicate that you are currently continuing to build on internationalization of FIRST BASE?

Joris: "That is certainly the case. We now supply a dozen Western European countries from our warehouse in the Netherlands and distribute our products for the UK from Rugby. Our customer base is international, and that also brings with it the responsibility to operate professionally, in accordance with the rules, and with specialist knowledge. In this, the Solid 6 is not a marketing tool, but a concrete promise to all our customers who work with our screw foundations every day, anywhere.''
