To the sounds of this well-known song, performed by many artists but inextricably linked to Nina Simone, we are on the eve of a new season. A season of opportunities, new moments and a richer outdoor life. This is exactly the feeling Marco de Jong, Sales Manager Netherlands, describes when we sit down for a chat. In the distance, you can already feel the freshness of spring. And with it, a new chapter for the outdoors begins.

Just a bit of swagger. Life moves with the seasons. Winter represents reflection, retreat and slowing down. Spring is the time when everything emerges again. That's where ideas take shape and plans become reality. The same is true for Deponti. Marco explains, “Last winter was all about development. Of thinking, sharpening and looking ahead. One question was central for us. How do we take new steps to give new meaning to outdoor living.”
De Jong clearly sees this awareness reflected in the market. “Whereas outdoor solutions used to be primarily functional, we now see a clear shift. People want outdoor spaces that fit their way of life. That is conscious luxury. No excess, but peace and coherence.”
Outdoor spaces are increasingly being designed as full extensions of the interior. Not with one fixed function, but with multiple moments in mind. “A dining area for long evenings with friends and a lounge area for quiet Sundays. Outside should be as flexible as inside.”

“We see that development reflected in the structures. The canopy forms the basis. Finished with calm and thoughtful combinations such as sliding glass walls, louvers and other side elements. Functionality does not disappear, but is enriched with flexibility and experience. The space adapts itself, to the moment, the occasion and the company with which memories are made. Just at home.” The sum of these reflections has led to new products that Deponti will launch in 2026.
First of all, Deponti is enriching the so-called Pinela range, Marco announced. “There will be two brand new slatted canopies with a cubist character. These fit well with the above written developments we see in the market. The need for direction is increasing. People want to be able to easily adjust light, shade and ventilation according to the moment. This is characterized in two new models, namely the Pinela Delight and the Pinela Tilt.”
This shift from functional to conscious outdoor living translates not only into complete canopies, but also into sophisticated additions that make the space even more flexible. The Fiano Louvre also stems from this development. A system with rotating slats in a fixed and rigid frame, specially designed for installation on Fiano rails. “With the Fiano Louvre, we give people direction,” explains De Jong. “Control over light, privacy and atmosphere. More sun when it's pleasant, filtered light on hot days, or just a secure feeling when you're looking for peace and quiet.”
The system supports outdoor living without putting itself in the foreground. “That fits perfectly with what we see in the market today. Solutions that don't shout, but enhance. Subtly present, fully serving the moment.”
As sung in Nina Simone's song, a new dawn marks not only the beginning of something new, but more importantly, a different way of seeing. A different way of living. Outdoor living follows less and less fixed patterns and moves with the rhythm of everyday life. With solutions that leave room for freedom, peace and spontaneity.
As a result, the new season feels not only like a fresh start, but an affirmation of what outdoor living can be. Conscious, flexible and balanced. And it's feeling good.
