Incidentally, the profile of the myICON is not the only difference from existing aluminum awnings, notes De Bruijn. "The corner pieces are unparalleled in their tightness and strength due to their fit and optimal mounting options. This is not only much more beautiful, but also prevents material fatigue of the hinges, for example."

According to De Bruijn, these hinges are the most striking difference between myICON and other suppliers' awnings. "Whereas existing aluminum awnings use large, plastic-looking hinges, an extremely smart hinge has been developed for the myICON using 3D printing technology with a better fit, more ease of assembly and a design that makes them barely noticeable."

Hood and finishing

In the program of the myICON is an aluminum hood or a hardwood from Redwood, custom-made and fully coated with high-quality lacquer. "With the wooden canopy, we also paid special attention to the mounting" Paul de Bruijn tells. "Smarter, invisible and without affecting the outside of the canopy. That makes it more resistant to the Dutch climate." About finishing, De Brijn is brief. "All possibilities in terms of cloth, finishing bands and colored head nails are those one knows from awnings as well as from mySun!"
