Indeed, on January 1, the new Sun Shading Solutions Business Unit was launched. The new BU is responsible for all the Group's sun shading systems and includes the Nice, elero and TTGO businesses. This includes drives and controls for blinds, shutters, roller shutters all forms of outdoor sun protection and facade cladding.
According to Managing Director Alain Goffart of Nice/elero Benelux, two facts underlie the creation of the new business unit. “First, there is a large, global demand for automated sun protection systems. By joining forces and following a coordinated strategy, we can respond forcefully to market requests to develop our full sales potential. In this regard, the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions are acting as an accelerator. This is because many public buildings must be reconfigured to accommodate the one-and-a-half-meter measure during the corona crisis, sometimes even using outdoor spaces. Apart from corona, there is a strong, creative drive around the world to reconfigure indoor and outdoor spaces. That requires new technology in terms of shading that can be tailored to different seasons.”
Second, the creation of the BU helps the group achieve economies of scale that allow for a reduction in procurement and production costs, by using higher volumes, standardization and modular products.
“The Business Unit was created to strengthen and expand our network so that Nice can become the second strongest player in the global market,” Goffart continued. “Thanks to a multi-brand portfolio, it will be easier to meet customer and end-user requirements. The new BU will allow us to better target specific markets and benefit from the integration between brands, strengthening Nice's ecosystem with its advanced technology.”
The Sun Shading Solutions Business Unit stems from a close collaboration with elero, the German company within the Nice Group, which specializes in the field of displays. The BU will have its headquarters in Oderzo (Italy) and Schlierbach (Germany) with an agile organization. The new BU team is headed by Enzo Viola, Managing Director of elero. “We aim to become increasingly successful on a global scale in new market segments, while continuing to focus on customers at the local level,” he explains. “Thanks to our proximity to the market, the expertise of a traditional German company and the strength of a global player, we have everything we need to achieve this goal.”
According to Viola, 2021 will be an important year for the Nice Group. “The creation of a new BU broadens our offering and strengthens our vision, allowing us to better respond to customers” needs. Thanks to our extensive product portfolio in all price ranges, we expect to eventually gain new market shares. At the same time, a major challenge awaits all the Group's subsidiaries. Indeed, the new BU is a new opportunity to test and improve the cooperation between all departments and markets to strengthen the Group's global integrated approach."
Nice/elero Benelux's Sun Shading Solutions team is also already in place. “We were the first to bring out the Business Unit,” said Goffart. “Our team - both outside and inside sales - has years of experience in solar shading solutions - Sun Shading Solutions - and will be able to assist customers with all their questions from A to Z.” ■
