On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, SOPROFEN, headquartered in Alsace, is highlighting its innovations this year. It is these innovations that have made the company a success and are the basis for its strategy in the years to come! A look back at the 40-year history of SOPROFEN that has made it one of the key players in the roller shutters, awnings and garage doors market.
Founded in 1984 on the Mertzwiller site, SOPROFEN has been integrated into the Bouyer Leroux Group since 2018. The company has more than 655 employees spread across eight industrial sites in France and Belgium. It designs and manufactures innovative high-quality products for its customers, including roller shutters, garage doors and awnings.
In the 1980s, when PVC windows were booming, SOPROFEN began selling window and door profiles from Germany. The lack of shutter boxes adapted to the French building system soon turned out to be a perfect opportunity. SOPROFEN developed its own roller shutter and in 1991 received its first national certificate for the production of the Chrono VX. The ingredients for the company's success were already in place then: innovation, quality, ease of installation and aesthetics. Thanks to these qualities, SOPROFEN soon managed to win over a customer base of industrial joiners.
Throughout the company's development, innovation has always been central, and all products are 100% designed by the in-house R&D department. In 1999, SOPROFEN began manufacturing custom products. That was a decisive turning point for the company, which from then on began a period of continuous growth. The production of front roller shutters began in 2002 with the DECO VE model, the smallest box on the market that, thanks to its compact dimensions, allows maximum daylight to enter. In 2007, garage doors were included in the delivery program and in 2008 the acquisition of Allo Volets, a Belgian company based in Charleroi, was completed. That acquisition marked the start of SOPROFEN's activities in Belgium, which was expanded a few years later by the acquisition of Van Laere, a screens manufacturer based in Lokeren.
Run by Emmanuel Lesage since 2018, SOPROFEN continues to grow by focusing on innovation, quality and service. The latest new innovations are:
To develop even further in the Dutch the Belgian market of sun protection and roller shutters, SOPROFEN continues to invest and plan for further growth. At a time when global warming is a central issue, solar solutions are the key to keeping buildings cool and comfortable during heat waves, without having to resort to air conditioning. In 2023, like all companies within the Bouyer Leroux Group, SOPROFEN adopted a CSR charter that further concretizes and accelerates its social and environmental commitment.
