New generation of screen cloth introduced

Since its inception in 2014, Solaye Fabrics of Ypres, Belgium, has become the exclusive distributor of Alkenz SunShadow® screen cloth for all of Europe. With the introduction of a new generation of screen cloth, the company also sees plenty of opportunities for the near future. Director Stephan Martens lists the most important novelties. 

The combination of soundness, quality and speed of delivery is his company's formula for success, according to director Stephan Martens. Moreover, Solaye Fabrics continues to expand its extensive range of screen cloth every year. In order to offer manufacturers of indoor sun protection a complete overview, the Ypres-based company has designed a luxury collection box with fourteen sample cards for its customers in 2022. Stephan Martens proudly displays the brand new box, in which the complete collection of screen cloth from the South Korean manufacturer Alkenz is presented in a contemporary way. In doing so, the company also introduces a new generation of screen cloth. Within the range, three new names stand out: Duralex, Purolux and Chameleon. 

Fiberglass fabric for zipper screens

With the introduction of Duralex, a fiberglass/PVC fabric that is ideally suited for zipper screens and a runner within the industry, Solaye Fabrics aims to further strengthen its European market position. "In the field of fiberglass fabric, European manufacturers have a unique position. With our new screen fabric Duralex from Alkenz, we want to offer a fully-fledged alternative to this and increase our market share in the European market," Martens clarified. "Incidentally, Duralex variants for interior screens may be added to our delivery program in the near future."  

PVC-free screen fabric

With Purolux, the second novelty, Solaye Fabrics is already anticipating the trend that screen cloth may no longer contain PVC in the future. Martens: "That's why in this cloth the PVC has been replaced by TPO, an environmentally friendly product with which we are also Cradle to Cradle certified. In our opinion, this kind of screen cloth is the future." 

A cloth that 'absorbs' light

Finally, Chameleon is a unique screen cloth that delivers extraordinary performance in terms of glare control, without the need to choose a dark color. "With this, disturbing reflections can be prevented, something that cannot be achieved with other light-colored cloth," Martens concludes.
