All VMRG member facade builders have the VMRG Hallmark and deliver guaranteed quality, on which they are also regularly inspected.
Liesbeth van der Pol, the architect of the project that can be admired on the cover of Façades 2021, was allowed to receive the very first copy from the hands of VMRG director Hans Zwaanenburg. In front you can see the aluminum entrance doors that extend upwards and the aluminum block windows that characterize the facade. On the back, you can see the green strips and glass facades in the south facade, which can fully open up. At Dok Architects, we stand for quality and remain involved right up to completion.”
Façades 2021 consists of over 200 pages of diverse façade construction projects in which VMRG companies have been involved. The book is divided into renovation, commercial construction, residential construction and solar projects.
In addition to projects, the book includes a number of articles. In this thirteenth edition of the Façades book, circularity is the focus of these articles. In the Netherlands, 94% of all building aluminum is already recycled and 87% of all steel frames are recycled in the Netherlands. But we are far from there yet. The VMRG is making efforts to close the cycle (metal out of the facade, back into the facade) even better, which will only increase the positive effect on environmental performance. The VMRG is working with other industry associations, TU Delft and contributes to innovations that will ultimately lead to a circular façade economy.
Each project in the book indicates whether the project was realized under the VMRG Hallmark. All companies with this quality mark deliver guaranteed quality in the field of facades. They are regularly inspected for this, both in the factory and on the building site. The European tendering directives offer scope to prescribe the VMRG Quality Mark in specifications. Every company with the VMRG Quality Mark is awarded an annual VMRG Quality Mark certificate after the inspections have been passed, so that a client can be certain that the company meets the high standards of the VMRG Quality Requirements and Recommendations.
The book is also online view. The online version contains links for each project to more information about the project and about the company that was involved in that project. Many more inspiration projects can be found on the VMRG website https://vmrg.nl/ and through the Inspiration Newsletter (sign-up option on the home page) it is possible to stay informed about interesting projects on a monthly basis.
